Sephy has tasked me with transforming a standard issue RockBand 2 wireless guitar into a functional prop of Nevan from Devil May Cry 3. I guess I'll start a thread here to catalog my progress so he can actually see if I'm working on it or not. This is what i start with: This is what I want to end up with: I'll add updated posts with my progress. Wish me luck, this is the first time I've ever done something like this.

First step, the control chip for the buttons was in one of the "wings" of the body. I opened it up and luckily there was enough slack in the wires and some extra bases for the screws to just move it out of the way. Then my friend Mr. Hacksaw took care of those pesky protrusions right quick. Still works just like new and it's structural integrity has been maintained. This is really the only bit of work i have to do that's going to be taking away material. so far, so good.

basic plans drawn up to scale. traced guitar for maximum accuracy. some inaccuracies can't be avoided due to immobile electronics inside, but this is the best compromise i can come up with. basic shapes. medium shaded areas can't be permanently covered (controls and switch), but can be hidden. dark shaded areas can't be obstructed at all (strummer, whammy bar, fret buttons)

main top blade is shaping up. unfortuantly when i went to buy more foam stuff, the "new and improved" it by making it thinner and less sturdy. so its a tad wobbly right now, but i'll find a way to reinforce it.

i've been trying to work through getting the neck extended without adding a bunch of weight, otherwise the guitar would want to lean in the wrong direction. i was thinking of using two wooden dowels as supports and covering it with stuff. i'm just worried about adding too much bulk behind the buttons. since i'll probably be extending the neck, the prongs for the head of the guitar would be rendered useless, so i just never bothered to put the head on it in the first place. i'll just be making my own. also, i fixed the bigness of this thread.

That is. Quite possibly. The sexiest. Functional prop. That I. Think I. Have ever.
Seen.
The end.
I want to play it now...
