As many of you have probably seen over the last year or so, the PLRPG has for the most part stagnated and been on life support. Due to various things both in and out of our control; such as migrating from the old DZX forums to the current ones, the gains and loses of various forum members, and the late integration of the PLRPG Wiki page, the PLRPG has become extremely hard to follow and even harder for new people to enter.
Because of the length of time the PLRPG has had to grow, the mythology of this universe has grown far beyond the original scope of what I envisioned. While I love that we've created in terms of the PLRPG and the fact that we've built an entire universe around the characters, the massive continuity and mythology has made it increasingly harder for things to continue freely and especially harder for new people to enter the game and create characters and stories that fit into our universe.
An idea I would like to suggest to the DZX community as a whole in order to breathe new life into the idea of a DZX Forum RPG is simple. I'd like to suggest the idea of "rebooting" the RPG and essentially creating an entirely new universe to play in. I believe doing so would reinvigorate former writers and open the door for new people to join in, as everyone would be free of the continuity of old and be able to create new original stories in an entirely fresh new universe. This new universe RPG would be completely different from the world many of you have seen; my goal would be to aim for a universe thats more of a modern setting, but a world that's still relatively open to having fun and some goofy stuff (picture something along the lines of a Spider-Man universe or the universe of Metal Gear Solid).
I know this idea might irk some of you, because I know there is a lot of sentimental attachment to the current PLRPG Universe and we would indeed be leaving open story lines unresolved (for the time being), but we also need to take into account that the PLRPG was founded approximately a decade ago when most of us were in middle school or high school. While the PLRPG has grown into its own unique piece of crossover fanfiction, the ideas that gave birth to it werent what we'd call overly original. I believe the idea of giving people an entirely new fresh sandbox might entice people to return to the RPG and thus the DZX forums in general.
Overall, this post is more or less here because I would like to ask you, the DZX society, whether or not you'd be interested in such an idea. If this idea has enough backing behind it, I would like to push forward. I would also like to use this thread to propose ideas for streamlining this new RPG to make it accessible for new entrants down the line, as well as make it easier in terms of readability.
