Working on ACEN badge commission...

Well, as some may know, ACEN is a big anime convention that takes place in Illinois. They are hosting a contest to have your art appear as the conventions official picture that will appear on the badges. ( More Info ) It is a con that I usually attend every year and now I have a small chance to make a name for myself along with using one of the few talents I have.
Being as inexperienced as I am with photoshop, I'm doing my best to make the picture look as neat and close-to-real anime as I can.
I'm going to post what my plans are and what I've made so far.
If any of you would like to leave comments about it, I would love to hear it. I need to make it as mass-appealing as I can seeing as how this art work will be shown to thousands of con members.

What I'm planning on doing is making a group pic of the two mascot girls and the male fox as a human all together as a jazz band on a stage.
I've got the finished outlines so far, just need to color these up, add the background and have them blend into it, aka about 10% done! Lol...

I'd say they are looking awesome thus far! I thought they looked really familiar and then checked out the reference pictures of the mascots. Means you did a good job updating their look while staying true to their originals. ;D

This is already a great start towards a badge that would be more impressive than 2009 and 2010 (think these were the ones). Highly detailed instruments, characters in motion, clean lines.... wow.





So this will be your entry for the 2012 convention - since the 2011 was back in Nov/Dec?

well, looks good obviously.

If the legs/feet are going to show up the badge / artwork, I'd look at both the girl's right shoes (give the sense of being left shoes).

The thumb on the right hand of saxophone girl seems upside down.

Can't wait for color.

Ah yes, I used the same outline sketch I made for all of the feet, and I forgot about straightening that one out. I'll fix that when I get home to my tablet. Thanks for pointing that out. ^^

For the models and the hands, I photographed my self to get the right poses, so I'm kinda confused about the thumb thing. Even though it's been awhile since I held a saxophone hehe~

For colors, I was just going to make it two-toned, so like a simple color with shadow. Only gonna put highlights in the hair. I usually go more in-depth with color, but it's what the other badge arts have been, so I'll try to stay true to what they are used to.

(This all reminds me that I need to start working on this again hehe... Been on vacation to long. ^^
