It's not a question if we are going... its a question of how many. ^.^

Preliminary discussions asked that we arrive at our hotel on Saturday, June 25th and spend some time doing stuff in the town before going to the concert on Sunday. Attending the later showing will force us to stay another night in the hotel and returning on Monday afternoon.

I'm currently looking at seats that are $75, but feel free to look at the available seating on the website. (For reference, the Linkin Park concert tickets were going to be $85)

This is something we've always wanted to do, so I can take IOUs from our normal DZX group if they really need it. Just be reasonable. And please pay me back eventually. I'll be keeping track.

I know you like to take a trip up here during the summer and this might be a little earlier, but I'm sure you could come if you wanted (and would be able to get off from work). Not sure how many times you can visit us during the year. ;D

Or maybe try to find us in a small town called Chicago and save driving time.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that will want to go on a food-venture.

I'll even get crono to eat a real honest to goodness chicago hot dog (celery salt, onions, relish, mustard, dill pickle, and hot peppers mandatory, and if he wants to add anything else, well that's okay too).

Plus I just want y'all to see how the city sentiment changes and what "night life" is on a grand scale. I'll just avoid a 5-shot glass of Knob Creek as even a place like Fullerton, CA kicked my arse 3 weekends ago.

Rawr. Well I'm planning on going but I still haven't gotten a complete answer from Jon whether or not he'll be able to go, but most likely the answer is no. Considering the tickets are so affordable I might just go to both concerts, even though I really only want to hear the second half of the concert. How often is this even held though? I mean is this going to be the only time in a long time that this will be in Chicago? Because this is the first time I've heard of it.

Well, to be honest, something like this is one of those "just once" kind of things.
Most concerts are. There had been one of these concerts before when I was living in Chicago whose success probably drove this one. But definitely not a yearly thing.

What this is, is that most major metropolitan areas have a city orchestra. Attendance is kind of hit or miss for these orchestras because of obviously other more easily accessible entertainment available. To hit "the younger generation" instead of playing the wonderful but overplayed symphonies of hundreds of years past, it's obviously going to be video game related. To also avoid offending the snooty, uhh I mean sophisticated, old-school classical musicians, they're going to call themselves a "Pops Orchestra". You know, because they play popular music composed by somebody who could possibly still be alive today.

Thanks to AC and the rest of the guys - it was an incredibly memorable event. Hopefully they'll swing back soon. Looking forward to seeing the photos.

Ugh. Pointing out my ironic usage of words regarding the whole beaten-to-death story the main stream media keeps reporting on today.

And no, sadly downtown Chicago doesn't have much of a night-life for outsiders, which is disappointing. The suburbs, however, do.
