Heeeeeeeya folks!
Pepsi and Mt. Dew Throwback are baaaaaaaaaaack!
Limited time only!
So check your stores and stock up while you can, for that real-sugar goodness!
This time the cans for Pepsi are '80s type style, friggin woot! And the 32 oz bottles of Mt. Dew have a white label and the hillbilly on 'em.
The only thing is the Mt. Dew doesn't taste as good as the first Throwback release, at least in MY opinion. Cuz then, they removed the concentrated orange juice so it was truly an older formula. Some people complained though, so that might be why the orange juice is back in there. But just as many (myself and my brother included) liked it better with the older recipe. It was more crisp and light, and went down more smoothly.
But it's definitely healthier than the norm. I could totally get used to this. :3
Show support for the sugar movement! Get this stuff while you can!
Where I've found some so far:
Mooly-Mart *Pepsi 12-pack mixed in with the regulars, only one left at the time, will have to keep checking for more. *Mt. Dew, 20 oz bottle, in the mini-fridges by check-out lanes, shoved into the corners so they were hard to see)

Urgh... folks... they messed up.
They really really messed up. I dunno if they changed what "natural flavor" they used, or used some kinda unspecified different source of sugar (dunno if beet sugar tastes different than cane sugar or whatever), but, at least in the cans, the Pepsi Throwback tastes like crap. @_@
So... if you planned to stock up, don't. See if you can find a bottle to just taste, see if you'd be ok with the different taste before you commit to a big pack of any sort. Or maybe it's the fault of the cans. Or maybe they just ruined the whole thing.
RC n Andrakon let me know about their set of Pepsi that they got at Kroger, so I opened up mine and the situation was the same.
The Mt. Dew in the bottles tastes ok. Odd aftertaste still, but nowhere near as severe as the Pepsi.
This sucks. The previous release of Throwback, both types were absolutely delicious, harmonized, just plain awesome. But this time, they did something different and messed it up. It has a high-pitched bitter sourness to it. Almost Coke-like rather than Pepsi-like. Except extremely pervasive and it stays in your mouth for way too long.
I half-wonder if it's so people quit wanting sugar to replace HFCS... they figure "Hey this stuff sucks with sugar, don't do this again!" But I can tell you, it's NOT the sugar's fault; it turned out just fine last time. But not everyone's gonna think like that, especially if they didn't get to try the first round.
Grrrr. I've written to Pepsi to find out what the deal is. I didn't use general feedback; I used Problem with Product. So hopefully that'll get things looked into swiftly.
So disappointing... I might hafta crack open one of my few remaining first-gens as consolation. Seriously, this could have been delicious, dangit. -_- Buyer beware.

Hmm... that's too bad. So far I've only tried one Mt Dew one and the flavor seemed a little off, but still acceptable. Still have to try the Pepsi one, but I shall take note of the witch's brew!
These editions of the Throwback seem to be hard to get in this area. Didn't see it at Mooly Mart, but only gas stations that sell it for $1.59 or something. At least the prior version was $1. ;_;
Bring back Mt Dew Pitch Black 1! That was one grape flavor I could drink (and crave).

Blah...I tried the Mt Dew.....all I can say is that 'Son I am disappoint" lol The previous Mt. Dew was full of yay and yum....I could hardly stand this round. I Never tried the Pepsi before and I had no intention of trying it this round, either (Me and Pepsi have an odd relationship...It used to make me feel sick all the time So I rarely drink it) And yeah, wtf happened to it being $1?! My mooly only has the 20oz bottles crammed in the lil fridges with the regular stuff by the registers from what i can tell (ZC...what the crap?! your mooly sells the liter sized bottles? My mooly doesn't even carry that size o.o) And good ol' Pitch Black...I remember when that first came out. Livewire was out not too long after...yay...

Oh. I meant 20 oz. That's what I get for not looking off of it. >.> Post fixed. (Not that it matters much, blargity-blarg!)
So (your post) is why you didn't try the ones I brought to Otakon? Ahhhh. Cuz yeah, I brought a huge batch and nobody was trying it. ^_^;; At least now I know why for you. Now if only Pie had taken his chance...
.........I miss Pie. ;_;
