I had the most peculiar dream last night. Strangely enough, I myself was not in it. Nor was anyone I knew. I viewed it from the same perspective as one would a movie or something. So I guess this would fit under "Creative Works". *shrug* Some details were left out because dreams are like that.
--------
Two brothers with two families. They are not "old", but they are aged enough to have their families become sort of like clans. One family is wealthy, sophisticated, and proud. The other is cursed and cast out from society.
The people of the cursed family are not completely human. They have developed some animalistic characteristics, some more affected than others. The head of the family himself is somewhat leonine. Because of these features, they are regarded as monsters and treated as such not only by the common people, but also by the other family despite being relatives. But that's not where the curse ends; they are also unable to come within a certain proximity of any member of the other family, as if some supernatural force prevented them. Not only are they outcasted from society, but they cannot retaliate. This has been the same for years, and they continue to take the abuse.
The head of the blessed family is due to have a grandchild. His daughter, the apple of his eye, is pregnant and he plans to hold a celebration. For kicks, he plans to invite his brother and his family as if to humiliate them for being unable to have any normal offspring.
One day, a young boy and girl (unrelated to either family) was traveling past the outskirts of the town when they stumbled across what looked to be a deserted den. Curiously, they went in to explore and deep inside they found the cursed family. Men, women, and children strewn across the ground, wallowing in their own misery. The most notable was the very large and bulky lion-looking man sitting on a couch in the center. His eyes were closed, but he spoke in a booming, intimidating voice: "Why have you come here? Are you the children of my brother's family? Have you come to jeer and laugh at us, knowing that we can't lay a finger on you?"
The children replied: "No. We simply lost our way."
"Then leave us be," the man growled in response. The children complied, but once they were out, they realized they wanted to find out more. They returned to the town and eventually found the dwelling place of the other family. They hid themselves and overheard the head of family talking to one of the other members, a tough-looking middle-aged man.
The boss handed him an envelope. "The celebration is to be held in early September. Be sure to tell them to come, or else we'll take the event to them. Heh heh heh..."
The man took the envelope and the boss walked away. The man then took out a gun and loaded a single bullet in it. "Why do we have to put up with those freaks?" he said to himself. "I'll put that monster out of his misery."
The children, alarmed, made their way ahead of him, intending to warn the cursed family. When they got there though, there was no one in the den. They were probably out foraging for food. They heard the man approaching so they hid themselves. The man seemed disappointed. Then, the children attacked him. They easily overtook him with the element of surprise, and he fell into a large opening on the side of the room. The children heard a sickening splat after the long fall. The envelope and the gun were left on the ground.
The children heard the family returning, so they quickly hid the gun under the couch. Once the family was back, they handed over the invitation. They explained the contents of the envelope.
The boss interrupted them and told them to leave. The children had no choice but to obey. The boss sat down on his couch and sighed. The rest of his family resumed their positions around the den.
After a few minutes, the boss suddenly spoke to the nearest person, one of his sons. "You remember how to use a gun, correct?"
The son, startled, replied, "Yes."
"Excellent." The boss reached under the couch and took out the gun. It seemed that he had the unnatural ability to "feel" anything close by. Everyone in the den looked and became interested.
This was it; this was their solution for payback since they couldn't physically get near anyone from the other family. One gun. One bullet. One pregnant daughter. One chance for sweet, sweet revenge.
The screen faded to black. In the darkness, the boss finally opened his eyes. His eyes were completely pale blue. There wasn't even any white. Just blue. The top of his eyes narrowed down as he assumed a maniacal grin. His voice boomed in the darkness:
"September draws near."
