Since ffdShow is included in the AMVapp, I'm assuming that other people have installed it just fine without issue... but it really takes over my system apparently. In the attempt to work with MKVs and MP4s with VirtualDubMod or other editing tools, I installed it hoping to expand my formats. Knowing that Xvid handles its format better than ffdShow, I made sure to not check the Xvid options. After installation, VirtualDubMod and all AVISynth support completely stopped working. Was it the extra AVS support option that killed everything? Was it the newest version of ffdShow that shouldn't be used? I uninstalled ffdShow and tried VDMod / AVS things. They didn't work again, so I went to System Restore and put the system back to Thursday. They still didn't work. I uninstalled all of AMVapp, deleted all folders left behind, and reinstalled. All AviSynth tests failed at the end. Went back to Tuesday's System Restore to no avail, and finally went back to Today's Restore Point. After completely removing all traces of ffdShow and AMVapp thanks to Revo Uninstaller, I could reinstall a fresh AMVapp without ffdShow and everything was fine again. I seem to be perfectly okay without it since MPClassic and VLC meet my viewing needs just fine, but the editing of stuff via AVS DirectShowSource("path") is limited. Maybe I'll try the CCCPack, maybe not.... Is everything working fine for your editing setup?

Well, on my end... I was doing fine before on the older version of AMV-app. After my reformat, I installed latest AMV-app, followed by CCCPack... and stuff sucks bad.
I haven't tried editing much yet, but what I did took five forevers to open the involved programs for audio editing. I can't play .wmv's and many other files in Media Player cuz then it's super choppy, and lotsa .mkv's don't play right in VLC player. Even youtube vids and mp3's often get extremely choppy when they used to not. I dunno how much of which thing is causing this, but it all started with one or both of those being installed. I did them in quick succession so I dunno which is at fault or if it's a combo of both. @_@ Or even just something else that slips my mind.
I'll probably reformat one more time and start over anyway; this version of XP:PE has a few too many disadvantages over the advantages (no previously-playeds in the media player menu, too long waiting on loading icons, etc). Anyway, blaaaaaaah, hope we all can figure this stuff out. @_@ So if I get around to this before you find out stuff, I'll let you know, but it might be a week or two.
