DAISHO CON GAMING TOURNAMENTS

Okay guys, this one's important. Daisho Con has posted the tournament times for their game rooms.

The Battle of the Rock Bands is not included on this sheet, it will be held in a separate room.

There are a few video game events that I have been anticipating for this con : Halo 3 Tournament, Battle of the Rock Bands, Soul Calibur 4 Tournament, Daisho Smash Tournament. Now as we know, Soul Calibur and Daisho Smash are free for all events so enter those and have fun. However, there are three potential team based events that we need to organize for in the event that anyone wants to participate in them. The Battle of the Rock Bands event is essentially all set and it is listed below.

Now there are two other team events that I am requesting people reply to in order to request a spot on a team. There are two Xbox 360 based FPS tournaments coming in Daisho Con; Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4.

For those of you who checked the nice link above, you'll see that the Halo 3 tournament kicks off Daisho Cons gaming events. And as you know, I'm not bad at Halo. Anyone who wants in on the Halo 3 tournament should respond in this thread specifically saying so, and in the event that we have more people wanting into the tournament then we have available I reserve the right to hand pick my team, this includes if we have enough for two teams. So essentially I am going to captain the Team DZX Halo 3 squad. All Halo 3 entrants are listed below.

Secondly, there is a Call of Duty 4 tournament likewise coming to Daisho Con however this one is on the Saturday of the con. Now last I've checked there is a chance that our LAN party buddy 'Sin' may be coming to the con as well (I'll update on that later), and if he is coming and wants to partake in the COD4 tournament then I am granting him the privilege of selecting his own Team DZX COD4 squad (I base this on his traditional superior performance in COD4). Like the Halo 3 squad, any overload of members will result in the team captain picking his squad. All COD4 entrants are listed below.

Currently there are no announced rules for how the structure of these tournaments are going to go. Updates will come as soon as possible so that our teams can be assembled without issues.

Update: I'm particularly excited for the Halo 3 tournament. It looks like original DZX Halo 'trinity' of X/SK/DC has reunited to pwn (and watch DC drive off in warthogs with OTHER MEN ). All that needs to be done is get a 4th member, and then I will have to reawaken the 'Sephiroth X' within.

X expressed his Halo 3 interest with me. Participate if I must, but I would not object to others like SK, Sithius, RedWolf, or Sin. They actually own the game, beat the campaign, and play online regularly. 0_o;

FPS really isn't my thing, but you know from LAN parties I put up a fight (and occasionally shine/scare people). I'm a multi-role hardcore player who knows when not to die.

I would like practice on XBL before the con. I usually only play on the rare LAN occasions.

As for Daisho Smash, it would be far better for the organizers to require all three Smash Bros. games be played (best 2 out of 3). My understanding is a coin flip determines the first game and then the loser determines the next game. As it stands, I would NOT play Melee if I had the choice, but there's a large following.

I happen to be in luck for all these tournaments, meaning I actually own all the games you have listed. A Halo 3 team with Dave included would be awesome, since he gets 5x average lifespan in most matches. I on the other hand havent practiced that game in ages, and Ive been spoiled by the flashy 60 fps goodness of COD 4. Think its about time I upgraded to an HD screen?

The tourney Im looking forward to the most though is the Mega Man 9 speedrun, particularly because Im in the top 150 on xbox live for fastest clear time. Perhaps DZX will conquor Mega Man as well...

Well everyone, holster your BR's and stash away some sticky grenades, if you want into the Halo 3 tournament, there will be no need for forming teams this year. This tourney looks like it could be incredibly fun: (copy paste from daishocon forums)

5 5 minute rounds (I'm considering raising the time
on regular rounds)

2 2 minute bonus rounds

16 player slayer

Level assigned weapons

no vehicles

No custom characters (every character will look the same and be labeled by their individual numbers)

Random levels (more than likely halo 3 disc levels nothing from the downloadable content.)

between each round seats will be switched up cause we will probably have more than just 16 players so we will have to split them up into sets.

Winning will be decided by your kills vs deaths (so its basically accumulative points threw out it all)

The reason I'm doing it this way is to promote maximum player participation so it will be fun for everyone while still enforcing skill.

the bonus rounds are wild cards and you wont know anything about them other than that they are 2 minutes long.
