*Loud techno music blared as laser lights flashed in various directions casting a multi-color illumination across the entire nightclub in Midgar. People of all different social classes were gathered here from higher class business moguls to poverty ridden jobless men and women who barely were able to pay the admission to get into the club in the first place. The dance floor was packed as people raved to the music while grinding and dancing against the men and women beside them, filling the area around the dance floor with the scent of sweat, perfume, cologne, and an undetectable yet subtle sense of estrogen and testosterone. Off beyond the dance floor near the back exit of the club the figure of Sephiroth X was leaning up against a steel support beam simply observing everything around him. Between the his scuffle with the Magi, his continuing dreams, and his recent victory over Dark Crono… even he needed to unwind at some point.
*The green eyes of Sephiroth X blended in well in this environment, bright vivid colors being a norm. As his eyes slowly panned around the club he saw the club’s bar and the various people around it, one guy was hitting on an under-dressed hooker, another guy with slicked hair in a fine suit was showing off his business card to his coworkers, some couple was making out, others were just enjoying their drinks before probably returning to the dance floor. Panning his eyes some more, X saw the recreation area of the club which contained various arcade games and pool tables, most of the people however seemed to be huddled around a few specific people who were showing off playing some dancing game and some other rhythm based disc-jockey game. Looking around some more Seph found his eyes drift to the dance floor, the DJ had his gear set up against one of the club’s walls and had speakers placed all around the dance floor booming music at extreme volumes. As weird as it probably looked to outsiders, Seph felt at ease and at home in this environment… probably because of the huge diversity of people that frequented the club, nobody pointed out his visual differences or even the large katana he carried probably because they themselves probably would stand out in this crowd with their own unique traits as well. To compliment all of this, knowledge of Seph’s battle with Dark Crono hadn’t become common household talk in Midgar yet; so he wouldn’t get the attention he would get say he was in the Super City or Zion.
*Various different people strolled past Seph, paying little attention to him, although then Seph thought he felt a presence near him that made him feel almost uneasy. A feminine voice then cut through the loud music directed at Seph.
Woman- …Amazing you’d find a man of such stature in a place like this… isn’t it, Warrior of Prosperity?
*Seph turned his head to his right slightly to face the source of the voice. A lustfully gorgeous woman stood in front of him with dark beyond shoulder length hair that had blonde streaks within it, she wore a tight leather halter top with a matching short skirt and high heals, obviously dressed to ‘blend in’ in the club like atmosphere. At first glance this vividly blue-eyed woman was totally unfamiliar to X, yet there was something that Seph recognized… something that was familiar.
Sephiroth X- How do you know that title applies to me.
Woman- There are many things that I should know about you, Seph.
Sephiroth X- My name being one of them. Who are you?
Woman- I think you know me quite well.
Sephiroth X- You don’t even look familiar to me.
*The woman’s facial expression showed a slight emotional wince as Seph said that he didn’t even know her.
Sephiroth X- Do you work for the Senate?
Woman- …I once did, unwillingly mind you.
Sephiroth X- Then who are you?
*The blue eyes of the woman momentarily glanced at the Masamune at Seph’s side before quickly shifting back and locking eyes with Seph.
Woman- I was a woman who was slain by the blade of one man, but murdered by another. I was a woman who was forced to lure a man into a cruel experiment and doom him into a life of emotional and physical suffering while my soul itself was used as a pawn by an outside force. I was a woman who was demeaned into being nothing more then a pawn, a fourth key in a circle that only required three…
*Her words shook right down to the bones of Sephiroth X as his eyes widened in wonder. The woman slightly grinned innocently as she looked into Seph’s eyes seeing him put the pieces of her words together. As the two gazed at each other a small group of people walked between them, as the group passed between them Seph put everything together and came to the realization of who this woman claimed to be. As one person in the group passed between them Seph momentarily saw a different woman standing there looking at him, the familiar long hair and smile that he once fell in love with long ago, as another person then passed between them the woman once again appeared as she did now yet things about her looked so much more familiar then they did a few moments ago; her smile, her eyes, subtle features about her seemed so much more familiar and vibrant… Seph immediately knew who this woman was… but couldn’t believe it.
Sephiroth X- …Catrina…?
*She put her index finger up to her lips, her smile growing even more now.
Catrina- Shhh….. We don’t want to make a huge scene here now do we, Seph?
*Seph ceased leaning against the support beam and stood there on his own power gazing at her. X could sense it… it really was her somehow, yet she looked so different yet so familiar. Seph could momentarily feel a small tear of joy build up but tried to hold it back.
Sephiroth X- But… how?
*Catrina chuckled, her smile still growing.
Catrina- I said shush silly! Don’t worry… the answers will come.
*Catrina extended a hand out to Seph.
Catrina- Care to dance?
*Still stunned, Seph nodded yes. X undid the belt portion of his overcoat and removed it along with the sheathed Masamune as he set them against the support beam. Seph reached out and gently grasped Catrina’s hand as she tugged him out to the dance floor of the club. The two of them weaved through the masses of people on the dance floor before finding a place where they could dance themselves, Catrina tugged his arm pulling Seph closer to her before she wrapped one of his arms around her and gently pressed herself against him. Seph felt her arms wrap around his neck while within his heart he felt emotions tug at him left and right. His heart was racing and Catrina could feel it as she leaned against him, she leaned up to Seph’s ear and whispered into it trying to comfort and ease him.
Catrina- The answers will come, don’t worry… We’re in a place of relaxation and comfort… Lets enjoy this moment…
*The two of them leaned their foreheads against each other and progressively began to sway to the music of the club, their eyes never breaking gaze off of each other. Seph’s sixth sense was sensing things going on within Midgar… he could sense Valtiel becoming slightly active… but for now Seph blocked all that out… he defeated Crono… he secured the Element… and now seemingly had Catrina return to his life… right now nothing mattered beyond the woman he was dancing with… Right now he didn’t care about a single other thing… As the two continued dancing, instinctively they both brought their lips closer to one another and gently kissed…

*A couple hours later the back exit of the club opened up, Seph and Catrina came walking out as Seph refastened the Masamune at his side. The two then paced down the alleyway back to the main street, never breaking their gazes from one another. After a few moments of silence, Seph finally spoke.
Sephiroth X- …How…?
Catrina- That question could have multiple meanings, you know… And don’t be afraid to ask anything… In a way I’m still slightly awed by what has happened as much as you are…
Sephiroth X- How… did you… come back?
Catrina- It seems that love defies all boundaries… even death… But it was you and your heart that brought me back… even after he told you that I was used as a key to unlocking the Element… You still loved me even though he tried to invalidate everything we shared… Love that you symbolized best when in your ultimate victory, you mourned rather then celebrated… It was that action that was part of the catalyst that brought me back…
*Seph thought about it for a moment… the rose… the apartment where she died… the kiss…
Sephiroth X- The rose…?
*Catrina smiled.
Catrina- Not the rose specifically…
*Catrina tapped her finger on Seph’s chest.
Catrina- The rose was but a physical catalyst… the real things were in you… your heart and the Element.
Sephiroth X- …You’re saying… The Element brought you back?…
Catrina- I guess you could say so… I truly don’t know the full reasons why… When you kissed that rose, something mixed between your love and the Elements power. Perhaps the Element amplified that feeling somehow… I remember watching it from the afterlife… then… I found myself back in Midgar… alive again…
Sephiroth X- But the Element doesn’t have that kind of power I thought?
Catrina- Nor did I think it did… But I guess this is one grand exception…
*Seph smirked and quietly chuckled.
Sephiroth X- Love defies all boundaries.
*Seph’s eyes darted up and down Catrina’s body.
Sephiroth X- Why the new look?
*Catrina looked down at the pavement for a moment before looking back up at Seph.
Catrina- I consider me standing here now a second chance at life and love… And when I look back at how things went the first time I feel sick to my stomach and know that I never want that to happen again… I don’t want to be used by the Senate or Crono… I don’t want to look into the mirror and see a woman who was a pawn and only ended up hurting the man she loved… I wanted those memories to be gone with the flesh of my first body… This is a second chance, a life I can truly live, and a fresh start… I wanted a fresh look to accompany it.
*Seph smiled, wrapped an arm around Catrina, and pulled her snug up against him. In response Catrina herself snuggled up to him softly, wearing a loving smile and then chuckling as she continued to speak.
Catrina- I hope you like this new look. I don’t really think I can go back and hit some magic ‘redo’ button.
Sephiroth X- As long as the woman I love is still behind those pretty eyes, you’ll always look gorgeous to me…
*Seph smiled warmly, holding her tight not wanting to let her go ever again.
Sephiroth X- I love you, Catrina.
Catrina- I love you too, Sephy.
*They stopped their casual walking pace, looked at each other and exchanged one long passionate kiss. As they slowly broke their kiss, Seph then chuckled for a split second.
Sephiroth X- There is one slight problem…
*Catrina raised her eyebrows.
Catrina- What’s that?
Sephiroth X- I um… don’t exactly have a “place” to go home to. I hope you don’t mind sleeping in an extra room in a run down gymnasium…
*They both mutually laughed for a few moments, still embracing each other.
Catrina- As long as I’m with you, anything is fine. Take me there, I’d feel honored.
*Seph then scooped up Catrina into his arms.
Sephiroth X- Allow me to give you the scenic route there…
*Catrina held onto Seph as he then hovered above the pavement for a few moments before quietly flying off into the night towards the gymnasium. Seph and Catrina were together once again… and Seph felt like things were finally going right in his life again.
