Reactor this year was MUCH better than last year. It was still in the same shitty hotel, but staff and programs rocked. Everything ran much more smoothly *thanks to Zach and Jim aka. Stripper Vash and Voltz*
The hotel is basically in the middle of being sued by the city since it has a mold infestation and many other problems it apparently refuses to fix. There was a dead rat that Con security found and saw that it was laying there for 2 *or god knows how long* days. There was also a rumored dead racoon in the parking lot?
There were the usual shitty here and there dumbasses who like to ruin things for people. People who puked, overdosed, were loud at night, caused fights, and broke things. Someone dumped a potted plant into the hot tub >.<
BUt on to the good stuff!! I was very busy. I met soo many people. This was one of the best cons I've been to in a long time, just because of enjoyment factors if you don't know how to keep yourself busy then you won't enjoy things.
I was in Draw or Die all 3 days *even though you only had to take the prelims once to try and pass to finals, but the host asked me to return on sat.* I passed on to the finals and was SOOOOO Close to defeating the defending champion of the past 2 years. Needless to say she won again this year but she's retiring so next year we all have a chance! W00t haha. The competition was so close that even the winner's husband told me he had walked out of the room early thinking that I had it in the bag >.<
I also lucked out because the cosplay judges dropped out so Zach asked me to be one! I got to judge how well everyone's costumes were made and also be a judge at the masquerade and sit right up front! I was spoiled up there they brought us booze, cheese, and finger sandwiches. The skits rocked this year as well. THe whole masquerade ran very smoothly and zach and Jim did a good job keeping everyone entertained. Thanks to Zach, the Mask was even ahead of schedule! There was an impromptu talent show to fill time ^_^
I also did another Japan forum, like the one I did at Detour. The people that attended enjoyed it very much and even approached me later to tell me again how much they enjoyed it.
We hung out with many cool cosplayers, including the Nurse and Pyramid head that were at Acen. They're hilarious ^_^ they were in the rave dancing in costume and in character! all twitchy and such. Someone hung a rave light from the top of Pyramid head's head ;P
The game room was downstairs in two rooms, so there was plenty of space, no stink this time. The ddr machine was in a room surrounded by glass so you could watch as you walked by. The dealer's room remained in the same tiny room it was in last year.
GOod news though, the con will be in a different hotel next year! There were soo many problems this year at the Purple Hotel that it finally pissed of the people that ran it enough for them to want to leave. THe hotel was trying to Jack them out of more money. Supposedly they've tried doing that to other large groups in the past.
last but not least, I attended some kick ass parties with the staff. Lots 'O free booze and I got to meet a lot of the special guests.
