The m2v files that I ripped directly off of the FFX DVD are starting to show huge, ugly blocky pixelation at least once in every video. What worries me isn't that this is happening, I could chalk that up to a fussy computer. What worries me is that the pixelation is both consistent, I.E. It occurs in the same way, at the same time in each video. E.g. the ending will pixelate will always pixelate 5 seconds in, another one will always pixelate at 10 seconds, etc.
What's wierd is they weren't doing this this morning, and while they did pixelate a lot when I tried to use them in Premier, they pixelated in completely different spots than they do now. If this is confusing to you guys, it's confusing to me as well. Just wondering if you guys have any idea whats up. Oh, and BTW, the pixelation survives me encoding it into AVI through huffyuv...

try cleaning it a bit with some AVS filters.
also it might have something to do with the aspect ratio, because i can't think of any other reason why the blocks would change when in premiere.

i'll get to work on finding some stuff out for you. I'm rather adept at finding video info, so give me 48 hours tops before i should hopefully have some answers.

My current theory is that they are due to scratches on the DVD, but I could be wrong.

that's the most likely explanation, especially when you say they occur at the same parts at the same time, etc.
