Well i figure its high time we try to at least assemble a list of tracks for the Promised Land RPG Element of Prosperity saga. So id like to gather a list of tracks from some of our participants as to what theyd feel would be worthy tracks (treat this as like a movie soundtrack for example, with character themes, ect).

(It's paced perfectly if it were happening in real-time ^_^; their exchange before the battle, the fight itself, and the aftermath)

Oh, em, gee...you had to make the character themes hard on me, didn't you?  Only one I can think of that fits (somewhat) for Lynx so far is Somewhere I Belong - Linking Park. |

Actually, what was intended was non-vocal music if possible (or at least limited vocals) like a movie soundtrack. I'm not the threadmaster here but that's just what was intended. I can't say if there can be exceptions or not. Umm... I hate even being a little authoritatitative ^_^;;

Well, it's been two years since we've really given this whole soundtrack idea much of a thought, and...
Well, I've been pondering for quite some time how I'd like to write some music inspired by the PLRPG. It would be a nice way to stretch my creative muscles (and it might provide me some material to work with when I take Music Composition lessons this fall).
I have taken the ideas assembled here and in other threads, and I have begun to compile a list of leitmotifs and pieces I want to write at some point. Some I might get done by the end of the summer. Some, I might get done by the end of the next school year. Some I may never get around to. But my eventual goal is to have something for each major character and place, along with a handful of major events. My big idea is what I mentioned months ago--how I wanted to write a piece based on the downfall of Midgar, incorporating the themes of Midgar, Valtiel, the escaping characters, and some new material of chaos. That would be fun.
So I will draw inspiration from the pieces mentioned here, and then move on with some other fun stuff, based on how our characters have grown and how they differ from any sources they may have initially been based on.

If you have any requests, please let me know. I basically just want to create some material to work with that will represent each character. For instance, I'd like to represent some people with particular instruments or musical styles/genres. These instruments/styles wouldn't be permanent or all-encompassing, but they would be a launching point. I'm going to model my compositional model off of Nobuo Uematsu, and to a lesser degree, after Profokiev (Peter and the Wolf), Wagner, and some other Romantic-era composers.
And eventually, I'd like to record these with actual instrumentalists. Unless I get major inspiration, all of these pieces will be instrumental. Or if I do decide to include vocals, they will probably be wordless.
So if you have a soft spot in your heart for an instrument or style and think it would work well for a character or place, just let me know.
All that said, I probably won't write for full orchestra at this point--just chamber music for now. If, when I am more experiences, I feel like rewriting something for full orchestra, I might.
For instance, for the "Black Rain" piece depicting the Fall of Midgar, I was thinking of the following instrumentation:
2 Electric Guitars
1 Electric Bass
2 Violins
1 Viola
1 Cello
1 Pipe Organ
1 Drum Set (and augmentative percussion)
Maybe one or two other instruments depending on other themes that are incorporated.
Please let me know what you think of these ideas!

I was already excited when ya told me, and I'm uber-excited now, especially with this now moving from a thought to a tentative plan!  I would absolutely LOVE for this to come to pass, whether in whole or in part. Who wouldn't?! XD *squees and runs around* I'd personally love to hear your interpretations of stuff without hindering or limiting you, so I won't make any actual requests concerning Zack-type music. But since having some skeleton ideas can help some folks feel less overwhelmed when brainstorming (myself included... lack of limits wears me out ^_^;; ), I'll at least suggest that a flute or piccolo might represent Zack/Claude's chipper side well, either that or acoustic guitar, which might be more able to swing to different emotions as he does. Heh, I imagine he'd be quite a challenge with his various facets, but if you wanna keep it to just his happy Zack personality then do so, by any means you feel would work best. I just friggin LOVE finding out other people's interpretations of my characters/creations, so going with it the way YOU want to would tickle me pink. ^_^ The Desert of the Dead, being as it is, is not just sand, so a strictly Arabian-type music might not be 100% suited for it; it's got mountains, ruins, dead forests, dust, and stone flats. And of course them durn drifters sometimes. Run with all that as you see fit, or just plain ignore me! ;D ........And just my personal opinion, but Jack just plain requires either (1) at least one electric guitar, and/or (2) techno.  I wish you the best of luck with everything, and I really really really really really really really really REALLY hope you can do at least a few pieces. This'll be absolutely awesome! ^_________^ |

Felicific, huh? That's a new one for me. Had to go look it up. Felicific - producing or tending to produce happiness Apparently used as an algorithm in calculus to derive how much pleasure or pain can be gained from an event. Awww, that makes me smile.
