Realizing that my usual domain was far too clogged to reliably put too much else on it (and not wanting to go through the long process of deleting all of the unnecessary things, I have gone to my second screenname and created a new website.
www.geocities.com/shadowphoenix88xLinks near the bottom of the index go to the Promised Land Archives, where I give a fairly extensive plug for the Promised Land, followed by 18 documents that I have saved.
For the purposes of these Cliffnotes, you all will probably only care about the 7th document onward. The flashbacks and stress-relievers are all optional reads that don't contribute heavily to the storyline, but they're all lots of fun...and I think some of my best work.
Now, in my own words, what has happened since just before Azriel's death...
Just before Azriel's death, Bax was speaking with him about Necrostiana and the Esper she was trapped in. Others arrived and Azriel felt Necrostiana trying to break free. He sacrificed his life to try to destroy it, but was unsuccessful and only released the beast so that it could indwell Valtiel. In the following chaos, a stray lightning bolt struck Bax and the Phoeniyan had a vision where he spoke with Keldira about his destiny.
When Bax came to and the smoke around him cleared, he was miraculously clothed in white and was exuding power. The police arrived around the same time as the recently indwelt Valtiel, and Bax attempted to protect the unsuspecting men in uniform. Still, Valtiel managed to kill all of the policemen with hardly any effort, much to Bax's dismay. In the crossfire, Zack was injured and Sephiroth X took him to safety, leaving the transcended Bax to do battle with Necrostiana's new holder.
The two skirmished for a time--Bax flexed his muscles and tested out his new powers with surprising results. Valtiel appeared seriously injured, and rather than continue this folly, he called a giant worm from the pits of whatever hell he crawled out of, and sicked it in Bax. After a difficult fight, Bax killed the worm and was knocked unconscious.
Bax awoke in a hospital a little later where Zack had found him and stopped the doctors from placing him in a vat of liquid which would have surely killed him. The two searched for a place to call their base of operations and, while searching, Bax passed by the area where he had fought the worm and Valtiel the day before. He went to retrieve the book left there by Azriel and was suddenly confronted by a gargoyle-like creature. He and Zack fought it off, but could find no explanation for why something like that would have formed (or how) nor why it attacked them. They reunited with Prodigi at the gym and tried to rest up.
Bax sort of isolated himself while Prodigi recovered from his own ordeals and read through the book detailing Project Fallen. While reading it, he was surprised to find that the man sleeping next to him was actually Cyrus Jackson, the man who oversaw the project under the auspices Holy Order of the Magi…centuries ago. Disturbed by what he had read, Bax chose not to ask Prodigi about it until later, and went outside for a brisk walk.
He got just outside the gym when he felt as though he was being watched. He soon found himself surrounded by three members of the Holy Order of the Magi: Eve, Teras, and Rivel. They told him to come with them back to Zion or else, and when Bax refused, they attacked him. Bax held them at bay for a while, but when Teras exploited one of Bax's weaknesses (his sensitive hearing), Bax was incapacitated, and quickly lost the battle. Zack and Prodigi intervened at this point while Sephiroth X confronted the apparent leader of the three down below on the roof of the gym. While Prodigi and Zack held off Teras and Eve with relative ease, Rivel snuck up on the fallen Bax and attempted to invade his mind. This got Rivel a lot more than he bargained for as they fought inside Bax's mind and Bax decimated Rivel. When Rivel tried to go deeper into Bax's consciousness, Bax's subconscious took over and showed Rivel scenes from Bax's past. Rivel tried desperately to escape and had a vision of the future fortelling the battle between Necrostiana and Keldira before being expelled from Bax's mind.
Bax awoke extremely sore and was somewhat conscious of Prodigi and Zack finally driving the three magi off. Zack rushed Bax up to his room in the gym and they all tried to recover--strangely enough, however, Sephiroth X was gone once again. As Bax recovered, he spoke once again with Keldira about what Necrostiana called him--the Child of the Shadows. After learning what this meant and how it affected Bax's destiny, Bax vowed to fight the Order of the Magi and destroy Necrostiana once and for all.
Bax knew that they would need money if they were going to accomplish their goals. They needed transportation to get around, particularly to Zion and the Super City of the Beta Continent, and they would eventually need a spaceworthy ship to get Bax home. And that meant that they needed jobs. But first, Bax needed some sort of disguise just in case the Order was still looking for him. In an attempt to unwind, Bax, Prodigi and Zack went shopping and got Bax a new wardrobe and a motorcycle, all the while gawking at pets in the pet shop. Bax took Zack for a joyride and the three decided to take the subway back to the gym. Bax would return for his motorcycle later, but for right now, it would not carry all three of them.
On the way back, their train went dark and was attacked by dozens of strange creatures. The trio fought them off, and when they surfaced, they were confronted by a worm much like the one Bax had fought a few days before. The trio took the worm down without too much difficulty, and, unbeknownst to them, were caught on tape by an amateur who sold the story and got them on the news, the repercussions of which have not hit just yet.
The stayed at a hotel for the night and while there, Prodigi removed his wings and lost his ability to regenerate, once again become a mortal. Zack took care of him, taking care not to disturb Bax (though Bax would later regret not having awakened). In the morning, they left the hotel, Bax retrieved his bike, and they returned to the gym. They all set out to make some money at various jobs: Prodigi at McDougals, and Bax at Zack's place of work: Edos Lee's merc business. Bax was accepted by the big man himself, and they set out to bring in some criminals.
A couple of weeks passed. Bax, hardened by dealing so much with criminals, has been showing a much different, more ruthless side. He let Zack go out on his own and stayed at the gym to train. Sephiroth X had left once again, and Prodigi and Zack were both out doing their own thing, so Bax was sure that he was alone. But as he trained, he was confronted by a shadow creature, which he found out belonged to Lynx, who he hadn't seen in months. After a short skirmish, Bax decided to follow the creature to help Lynx out with whatever he needed.
Sorry, it's a little long. I tend to get detailed…if you want a more cliff-notey version, I can try, but…eh…
