Incorporeal voices speak within one’s own troubled soul…
“You were foolish to oppose one such as me. At a time when I was to become immortal, what could your torn and battered body attempt?”
“…it was enough to destroy you…”
“Don’t make me laugh…I wouldn’t expect a mere mortal to understand the true meaning of my Lavos-given powers… Even as I banished you to the Mammon Machine, I realized that your crude ability allowed the chance of survival.”
“…nothing but a parasite…”
“Ironic, isn’t it? Nature balances itself equally throughout its’ primal elements. All things return to the planet, as well as renewed. The very body [Lavos] that gave me my powers is no different than a human – one who steals from the very balance that keeps everything alive.”
“…you were human once…”
[glow=yellow,2,300]“Indeed, but that is an era that I have long forgotten…”[/glow]
“…you cannot exist without me…”
[glow=yellow,2,300]“True as it is, your existence depends upon my own. Although I succeeded in obtaining half your soul, perhaps that was what I wanted all along.”[/glow]
“…why do you say that…”
[glow=yellow,2,300]“Unbelievable was Lavos’ power. You and your pitiful friends didn’t stand a chance without me. It was I who held him back while you fought – succumbing his power with my own. Once that parasite was removed, it ensured my survival inside of you until I awakened our potential. Oh, little did I know how much power I would achieve when entering the spiritual realm!”[/glow]
“…our?”
[glow=yellow,2,300]“Your existence is not of this world. You are a soul that has lost his way – a balance between the flesh and the spiritual. Unimaginable power lies before you, but only if you can realize it yourself.”[/glow]
“…I don’t want power…I want my life back…”
[glow=yellow,2,300]“Find the Element of Prosperity, Crono. Perhaps then you can decide what is right for this corrupt and wretched world that is destined to die. Although there are the chosen few who can aid and impede you, only one truly knows that you can save or destroy everything…”[/glow]
“…All those who oppose me shall meet certain doom…”
A smile caresses his face in the moonlight. A fiendish cackle echoes. Golden spires of light dance around a midnight silhouette.
“Azriel…how dare you shield that relic. Although I thirst for its damnable existence, you will continue the burden of carrying it…for now. We shall meet again… I have other matters to attend.”
Emotionless rain descends upon the earth once again. A raven darkness swallows the remaining light.
The rest is silence…
