Kouenkai--
That is the name of the Anime Club at my college. Yes, an anime club at a Christian college, firmly established and with about 30 regularly attending members and even more on the mailing list.
Kouenkai translates to "club" in Japanese for those of you who are wondering. And I finally had the chance to go last night. We watched episodes 5 and 6 of Last Exile and Honey and Clover, though I missed Last Exile because I got there rather late. Honey and Clover was quite good--anime about struggling college student artists living in an apartment.
Sound familiar, anyone?
Anywho, I recommend it.
But I have another reason for posting this.
First off, I'm back after my unannounced hiatus (I missed you all). I dropped my computer off of my bunk bed when I fell asleep talking to Samantha one night, and kind of broke it. I've been relying on my roommate's kindness and his allowing me to use a computer to do basic things. Writing papers, checking e-mails, etc. But I haven't had a chance to do the fun stuff. But now I have my own comp again, courtesy of the folks, while mine is in the shop getting fixed up. So, aye, I'm back.
Second, I want to encourage those of you who's schools don't already have an anime club to start one up. Be courageous and believe that others share your interests. I believe I saw a post of Sephy's regarding that whilst I caught up on stuff.
Third--
After the 6th ep of H&C, the president of the club showed an AMV that he made, his first, from about a year ago. It was a RahXephon vid to Nightwish's "Nemo" which showed in the AMV Overflow this year at Otakon, and it wasn't bad. Quality was shoddy on his laptop, but the editing was fairly solid. And as I watched, the wheels in my head began to turn.
I have a group of anime fans gathered around me, hungry for more. They think this is good. But I know what good looks like. Good looks like DZX Productions. I grinned and twiddled my fingers beneath the cloak that I was wearing, wishing I had my brand new masamune with me (which I bought on Sunday--you'd be proud of me, Sephy--I'll tell you the story next time I see you). And then I went up and started gushing to the president.
And he'd be willing to let me show a video or two (or more, perhaps) from DZX Productions during the Kouenkai meetings.
I bring you this news exquisitely excited, but wondering how exactly to deal with it. I don't have any of DZX's vids on my laptop currently. I showed the president your website, but I haven't talked to him since then. So I came to ask all of you--
I want to increase the fanbase here, and I want you all to help me out. What vid(s) would you like me to introduce to these puny mortals?
Lemme know. I should be on around 11 EST and then on for most of the night, working on a paper.
