A new thread is born, for things that you can find in nature that are just plain awesome! In this case, we also have a healthy dash of "neato!" and quite a bit of "cute!". I present to you, the Potter Wasp! These wasps make... little tiny pots! www.geocities.com/brisbane_wasps/MudDauber.htmThe tops and everything! They're so cool! Wouldn't those tiny little pots look adorable on a bookshelf or windowsill? ^_^ Nature's full of great artwork when we take the time to look for it. Feel free to post other things of awesome provided by living things.

hah, some reason I wanted to cry when I saw that picture! I'm deathly afraid of bees/wasps ^_^ I can't believe that picture made me feel so icky I wanted to cry! haha But it is cool. Something freaky I saw last summer in Japan was a wasp carrying a grasshopper to it's doom. It landed on the ground and was trying to pull the grasshopper into a hole, but the grasshopper held on for dear life and it was a little too large to fit in the hole. Not sure of the outcome cause we left ^_^ ForeverZeroUltima: Yeah ^_^ I LOVE Those types of fox! SOO cute! I'm trying to think of the name of those birds that build beautiful extravagant nests to impress their mates. The male will build arches/hallways/or house like nests and decorate them with shiny, tasty, and interesting things. They do it very precisely too because if you move something they'll come back later and put it back where it originally was. They're just so cool ^_^

Aww, sowwy smtemp (I did say it was wasps though... feel free to not click on such links. I'll refrain from directly posting images for ya.) Arctic fox = cool ^_^ They're so pretty lookin' in either phase. There's several birds that do that neat decoraty stuff, the one that comes to mind for me is Bowerbirds. The different types of bowerbirds do different things, all nifty Here be a page, though seeing them in action on nature channels was even better. ^_^ www.montereybay.com/creagrus/bowerbirds.html

I've got several thingies for you: First off, are you guys aware of the Cassowary? It's a large Australian bird, one of very few that have been documented to kill humans! They kick butt! They look like some kinda dinosaur, and even have an extra-long claw on their inner toe, sort of like a velociraptor! They will use it to kick at anyone who ticks them off. They're territorial and grumpy, so when in the northern islands of Australia, watch out! www.amazingaustralia.com.au/animals/cassowary-attacks.htmIf I can find footage of when this one dude let one attack him with only a flat board for protection, I'll post the link. They're so cool! ;D But sometimes... they can be soooo silly! www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYTMr3_akFs&search=cassowary
Go to Google image search, and enter in: Bilby. Do it! OMG CUTE!!! X3 I only found out about them today on Croc Hunter Diaries, they're so rare. They're like... bunny-kangaroo-shrews! KAWAIIIII!!!! ;D

Here's some amazing animal clips. They'll boggle your mind! First off, a talented cat who plays the piano. Seriously. She sits down and plays! www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ860P4iTaMSequel with more advanced techniques: www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0zgQAp7EYwShe knows the difference between when to play along, and when to do a play-reply game. She observes people play and tries to imitate their chord patterns. She matches song dynamics in duets! AAAH!!! XD Painting elephants. Sure, most of us have seen clips where they go through the motions, slapping the brush around sometimes hitting the paper. Then there are some that put thought into it but still create abstract forms more subjective than objective. But then... you have ones like this. Who paint recognizeable forms like flowers! www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmZ0Cs0ygLEwww.youtube.com/watch?v=SHaS1saPlsswww.youtube.com/watch?v=e9-9YDCirUUOr... how about painting another elephant (or itself?) www.youtube.com/watch?v=He7Ge7SogrkHere's some more musical types... A bird who does blues improv! Note the phrasing, pacing, and minor key. It truly is not only making up music as it goes along, but is managing to stay genre-specific, despite never getting explained such a concept! www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGJaz64lrJ4Music appreciation, and interpretive dance, are still indicative of an artistic mind. Enter Snowball: The Dancing Cockatoo. He'll only dance if it's got a good beat to it. He's a huge fan of the Backstreet Boys, but will mix it up to anything that's catchy enough. Your jaws will drop. Seriously! www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7IZmRnAo6swww.youtube.com/watch?v=cJOZp2ZftCwSome animals can be artists, just like some people can, don't you agree? Some with training can go through the motions, but some truly want to create! Let's move on to the raw intelligence department! Check out these gems! I think the bird is the most impressive of the lot because he could just eat that bread but instead... well, watch! www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tmh2yUwhIAAnd now, a little something about Bonobos. They're a sub-species of chimpanzees who live a less violent lifestyle, have more humanlike features and postures, and are excelling at communication with humans. I saw them earlier today on tv and looked for more info. Currently, the ones in captivity can communicate using lexicons (symbols representing words or concepts) on a computer, and understand hundreds of spoken words, as well as using verbal versions in their own language. Here's a longish feature on many of their intelligent attributes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8nDJaH-fVEBut if you want, here's a shorter one with a small example of general communication: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIPdElgGNM4Or just to make you fall out of your chair from awesomeness overdose... here's one playing PACMAN!!!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh8gfIcjQNYFinally, a physical and willpower wonder. A dog named Faith... who by the simple act of walking inspires so many feelings. Check her out! It's just awesome. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLXHvBFG-CI

Ok so... After another nap (still feeling weak), I woke up and figured I better get to work so I'm done before Otakon. I got ready n stuff, then opened up the door... And there was a tiny black cat standing there. At first, I thought it was the local black adult female that visits me sometimes. But then I realized this one was way too tiny. By then, it had glanced at me once, then ran right into the house and started quickly inspecting each room. I was like "...what?!" This little thing wasn't the slightest bit hesitant. After it explored for a while, I gave it some tuna (I keep losing my tuna to these cats ^_^;; ). As it ate, I petted and talked to it. It started purring, raising its tail, etc. It'd stop eating to rub on me and indulge in some petting/cuddling. I checked and it was a little boy. It's weird how it looks though; this cat is so tiny I'd want to call it a kitten. It's gotta be half a year old or less by its tiny body and microscopic head. VERY tiny slender little head. And even its green eyes are extremely tiny. Like it's not gonna grow anymore at all! And yet, his paws and tail are huge. His tail is like a full-size adult tail, with thick flesh, flexible and defined. Not like a pointy thin kitten's tail. And those great big paws, implying he'll grow much more, yet his head defies that theory. So I have no idea what's with this kitty. He's not startled by anything I do, gets right in my lap, cuddles and purrs, will get on precarious surfaces and lean right on my hand, letting it be the only thing keeping him from falling. Total 100% trust in me, even though we only just met! I dunno what to do with him though... He's having a nap right now, relaxed as can be. I know he's got to belong to someone, and they have to have been treating him like a little prince. And yet he's not all eager to go back to them. I need to get to work, but can't leave him here without a litter box. I can't just hang onto him regardless; Otakon's coming up, and I can't leave this little guy all alone for a week. But there's so many tomcats out there who might chase him away or beat him up, so I'm worried about putting him outside... But I guess I'd better soon. I really hope he can find his way back to his home...

I might consider taking care of him. If you want we could go to the library and make a flier and post it or post in the paper. If we cannot find his owner I could take him in. I dunno. I would hate to leave him outside.
