ok, i now understand how Crono felt when he was playing this game. and i'm gonna throw this out to everyone to see if i am agreed with. Seigfried is unbalanced in every sense of the word. i was playing one of those quick arcade battles on normal difficulty and got through fight 6 no sweat. fight 7 rolls around and its our old friend Siegy. it took me an hour and a half of losing the same fight to decided that im gonna stop playing for a while. his attacks are far to quick for their range and damage. most of the fights i couldnt even stand up, he just keeps hitting me while im down. no time to get up, block, or roll out of the way. and if i did roll his attacks magically followed my every move. i think that Seigfried should be outlawed in vs mode, like we did with Rafael and Mitsurugi's damascus sword. I may be wrong, but i don't think there should have been that much of a difficulty jump from #6 to #7.

its not really siegfried who's unbalanced. Its just when you get to that level in the game, when the difficulty does that dynamic difficulty jump on you basically ever character becomes extremely cheap and can defy the laws of the game. (Plus in any other mode I can royally pwn Siegy).
When I get to battles 6 and 7 I get royally frustrated because I ALWAYS seem to get pitted against Ivy and/or Rapheal (as i've stated, the two cheapest characters in the game). And since I traditionally play as Seigfried or Nightmare, characters that require you to attack very selectively, it gets frustrating.
---Edit---
And if you even think of outlawing a character I've used since the original Soul Edge, simply because I have him figured out, I will stop playing Soul Calibur with you all together.

There is a really poor balance system in the arcade mode. The learning curve is ungodly for the 6 or 7+ battle.
I always faced Mitsurugi (who became harder than the actual final boss) whomever I picked...so its not just Seigy in that game.
When we play against each other in versus...not even X or myself can pawn a person like the arcade mode.
btw...what does AZ think of the game?

I don't mind it so far.
I noticed the character selection was similar to Dead or Alive
I kind of like the Tale of Souls mode since you can chose different options and has more of a story to it.

Well from what I played of it, I didnt like it at first but after getting into it more I really quite honestly started to enjoy it a little more then SC2.
-It's really hard, and I love games that can really be challenging (Ninja Gaiden, Legendary on Halo 1 and 2, Dante Must Die mode... etc)
-A lot of the level designs seem to be less open to ring outs, meaning that fluke Ring Out victories will happen less (good thing in my opinon).
-The create a fighter feature, although not as deep as say the create-a-wrester systems in wrestling games, is a nice touch and gives the game a little more variety and replay value.
-Most of the characters seem to have been tweaked and more balanced and there doesnt seem to be one almighty character that if you learn him you dominate all [Necrid] (this coincides with my next statement).
-Talim has been brought down from a goddess to a mortal Okay I've been very quiet about my displeasure with Soul Calibur 2 Talim mainly because there wasnt much I could do about it except wait until SC3. But I'm going to explain why I think Talim was overpowered in SC2. The main constant here is that Talim for her type of character was out of proportion in a few signifigant ways.
---She always seemed to magically grow her arms an extra half foot or so to hit her opponents, I cant remember how many times playing against AC when I honestly knew I was out of Talims range but somehow AC hits me despite the character models arms/weapons visually not even hitting me.
---For a small little 13 year old girl, she took way too little damage. There was a secondary reason I always liked to stick to Nightmare in SC2 (besides the main "Seigfreid" preference I've had through the series), its cuz the damage Nightmare deals out in SC2 is close to what she should take for damage.
---If a character is going to have the ability to take as much damage as she did, she shouldnt deal out so much damage. The common arguement I'll hear from AC and AZ is that "her individual attacks dont do much, she's a combo character" but remember once you get into one of Talim's combo's there's no getting out of it... Meaning you'll get a 10 hit combo put on you, then you'll get hit into the air, Talim will do 3 flipping somersault kicks to you in mid air, knock you to the ground, then do a 5 or 6 hit cartwheel attack before your character can even roll out of the way and in the blink of an eye you've lost half your health if not more. Now if a character like Astaroth comes at you with a powerfull attack, you can prevent it all with one easy guard break.. thats not the case with Talim.
So for me, SC3 gets the thumbs up over 2.
