Wow! Here I am at Reactor and I am amazingly... well, underwhelmed. AC and X, perhaps it is a good thing you decided not to come to this con. Sqiky is here, and I hope this experience doesn't keep him from coming to other cons. Now, that said, I am still enjoying myself, just not as much as the last couple cons. The dealer's room is kinda sorta really small, and so is the video game room. However, I did get to do my first cosplay. Alexander Anderson from Hellsing. So overall, I give this con... 3 unbathed otaku... out of 5. Hopefully, I'll have some pics of me to post because I'm an egomanical bastard.
And just a side note... I swear to god, if this thread degenerates into madness, I will eat a baby. Live, over webcam. And then 'gurgitate it out into a shoe and mail it to you grandma.

Well... according to your last statement you're gonna have to do that. Because you defenerated this thread into madness by saying something so crazy. *hands AZ a baby*. No going back now. Alexander Anderson is an awesome character, hope you can get some pictures up, it'd be sweet to see it.

Hopefully it'll be better next year. After all, that $40 price tag for each person at the door should help out.
Any good deals on DVDs/plushies? Did you get to play any Soul Calibur or Halo? Did you get me another wall scroll? ;D

LOL, nah, I didn't get you anything. Sorry. ^_^ There weren't that many good deals at this con. I did get a couple Gunslinger Girls manga (awesome series) and the second manga of Full Metal Panic.

And X... you do realize how much a good Sephiroth costume will cost, don't you? and how long it will take to make? The answer to both is "A LOT."

A wig for that would be incredily hard to make, not to mention it would be difficult carrying a sword of accurate-to-Masamune legnth through the crowds you find at those conventions. I found myself in places in the dealers room where I was locked in by people with no way out. It sucked. -- I really should prepare for these things! I had been up since 7:00 PM the day before Day 1 of the con working on the website, but dispite that, was still feeling wide awake. I had just bought a sleeping bag and a duffel bag for my stuff, and I pull into my driveway at the same time my ride does. I had to hurry and get ready not having had anything packed yet, but I still managed to get most of what I needed. About the only thing I forgot was my charger for my DS. Around 7 or so that night the lack of sleep really hit me. Combine that with the fact that all I had in my stomach was a beer and well, you get the idea. I passed out around 8, exhausted, and missed out on any opportunities for going to parties and such with my friends. I also missed out on free pizza as well, being asleep and all. Quite truthfully, the first day of the con really blew for me. I was so pissed that I missed out on it, it may have been the most fun I would have had all weekend. But that was just Day 1. The next day was slightly better being rested for it and all. I met a couple people in the game room and some fellow Halo 2 players in artists alley. I finished off my Gundam 1/144 Endless Walts model collection, as we as grabbing a copy of Red vs Blue season 1 signed by Gus (Simmons) and Kathleen Zeulch (Tex). Those were the big highlights for me anyways. There were a lot of other noticable flaws in the con though. I kinda thought that the areas for the dealers room and game rooms were small, but smtemp comfirmed those suspicions, which according to her were the smallest dealers and game rooms she'd ever seen. There was no standing room in the game room either, and it had no ventilation. They had to close it down for 2 hours to let it air out due to the number of sweaty DDR players festering in such a small space. This is one of 2 reasons I quit out of the tourney. OK 3 reasons, I only brought 2 pairs of socks, but anyways... The other was because a special panel with Gus and Kathleen from Red vs Blue was being held at the same time! I had heard that they made a special episode of RVB for Reactor last year, so I was pretty pumped. Sadly, they didnt show anything this year, it was more of a Q and A only. I didnt ask any questions, and I couldnt hear what the audience was asking, so it was kinda lame. Otherwise I spent a lot of my time wandering aimlessly. You almost feel like you dont belong unless you dress up as something. The thing is, everyone I roomed with cosplayed, but they all looked nice. Casey's Hitman costume was badass, and AZ and smtemp both looked good as well. Next time I will have something ready. And yes I'll post pics. Day 3 was pretty much pack and go. We checked out early and stuck around for a little under an hour to watch smtemp compete in the Draw or Die competition which was fairly interesting. She had some tough competition, but we felt the crowd's favoritism for a particular artist prevented all the other artists from getting recognition for what we thought were some great sketches. So thats about it. Parts of it really sucked for me, but I wouldn't say it will stop me from going back. My advice is be ready. If any other DZX members want to go (or possibly Zacloud?) we will be going to Anime Detour in March and ACen in May.

X, If you really want the costume, e-mail me at lwollan@gmail.com so I have it on my list and I'll e-mail my affiliate to get a quote on how much the armor would be *he's awesome at making props and such* and I'd make the fabric parts. attach an image of what exactly you want and also let me know what kind of fabric you'd like *I know that you want to be picky about it * Sqiky, on the contrary, the wig shouldn't be too difficult. Buy a really long white wig, I usually get them off of ebay, and then just style the bangs with some deco podge. I've styled a Kakashi wig and some other wigs so far and I'm getting the hang of it Yeah, Reactor wasn't as great as it was last year. But Detour and Acen should be better *Acen for sure* I can't promise for Detour though. Detour is the next one and it will be in the TwinCities MN. It's across the highway from the Mall of America at the ThunderBird convention center/hotel. It's not a very big hotel, but the dealers room is bigger and it's a pretty personal con. You can get to know people and party with them Acen is HUGE and it's in Chicago near the OHare airport. The Dealers room is a real convention center.. so it's as big as a warehouse *uber huge* and the hotel is gorgeous. There are way more events and better guests *usually* One year I got to meet Shinichi Watanabe ^_^ The director of Excel Saga. That made my whole con! At both these cons there are con suites which have free soda and snacks and breakfast *like toast and bagels* sometimes fruits. When I first started going to cons my friends and I would solely survive on the consuite or just not eat the whole weekend. If you want to eat something and have to order it, bring a cooler and put some food in it that you don't have to cook, such as sandwhich fixins and *cough* alcohol.. you didn't hear that from me.. *end cough* hahah It's still good to order stuff if you want we usually always get pizza. There are many other things that go on at cons, you just have to look a little harder for them sometimes. Such as contests and room parties and certain forum meetings talking about hentai or gaming or whatever I had a pretty good time at Reactor because I had friends there that I've met through going to the cons. I also had a dealers table and entered a few contests. So I had plenty to keep busy! But if you guys have any other questions feel free to ask. I had fun hanging out with the guys last weekend ^_^ AZ, Sqky, and Casey thnx
