That's right folks, ever since Phantasy Star Online popped up in the lovely year of 2000, it's first "real" sequel has finally come! It's moved up from being on the Dreamcast/Gamecube, to the almighty PC and even the PSVeta. If you've don't know much about Phantasy Star, it's totally ok. Almost everything in the game is new. The mechanics, the engine, even the boobie sliders! -Wait, I didn't mean to spill that out yet.... Well anyway, the only real thing it keeps to the original is names/looks of certain things, story and classes. Currently, it's only finalizing beta in Japan, meaning it still may be awhile before us silly English people will get a readable copy, but there is still a way to "demo" it if you are interested. So for those of you who like trailers, here's THE trailer: www.4gamer.net/games/120/G012075/ For those who like gameplay, here's some gameplay:
This also has, THEE BEST character creator EVER IN EXSISTANCE. NO SERIOUSLY. It is simple, yet you can make any kind of silly/serious/cute/hot/random person/newman(elf)/cast(robot) you please. Don't believe me? Want to? Here is a awesome "demo" that is the character creator for the game. Here are some lovelies I have made with it (so far).
You can even be a robot too! Since the character creater is so awesome, it'll even let you wear a funny hat PLUS glasses! So you can be sophistirobot! ^^
Go give it a try, and see if you like (which I'm sure you will). Let's just say, this game can not come out fast enough! @.@ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- *EDIT* Added in thumbnails and extra piccys~*EDIT* Added in the REAL trailer for the game.

I just so happen to be a trailer and gameplay kinda person. Neat that the 10 year anniversary includes a full sequel. The character creation demo was released on April 5th, so you are must really be looking forward to this game. ^^
Looks like some other highlights include: -Free to Play and Cash Shop - Access to the game and executable will be free on all platforms. The game will be supported by an in-game item transaction shop. -iOS and Android Versions - These versions will use the same data as the PC and Vita versions, but is only single player. The mechanics, the engine, even the boobie sliders! -Wait, I didn't mean to spill that out yet. Eh? <watches gameplay video> Oooooohhh. They do slide.

Thanks to a find from Sephy, destructoid.com has a review about PSO2's special in-game currency system. It looks pretty awesome! As usual there is "meseta" (gold) that is the currency you use in game to buy anything in it and trade with players. Then there are "Arcs" that are purched with real money (Dollars/Euros/Yen) and you can get special add-ons like clothing and character slots, but nothing that can actually enhance stats in the game. THIS is what really bothers people, but since you can only "Pay-to-...dress up?" it will keep the game fair between people who spend their real money and those who don't. There's also a currency labeled "FUN" which are like points you get when you interact with the community. With those points you can get extra prizes, like more clothing or items for your characters room.
So far, this is looking good for me. I'm actually more of a sucker to pay irl monies for cute clothes then better weapons anyway. (Sorry if I'm totally a girl ;P )

Just so everyone knows, you don't have to make an anime person with this game. (Even though that's what most people want lol.)You can make realistic looking people as well. I tried making myself a little bit. Didn't turn out too bad I think. ^^;
I got some footage here for more gameplay, from the closed alpha/beta tests. Nothing but more anticipation for this to come out for me. Heck, I'll even go on the Japanese servers, IDC if it's all moon speak!
A look at rangers. Lovely third person view that plays like a shooter. Wait a shooter game mechanic in an mmo? What is this madness?!
A look at fighters. Pulling off sweet moves, that if you time right can lead to epic damage. Wait, awesome fighting techniques like a hack n slash in an mmo? MADNESS!!
A look at techers. No one can resist shooting massive explosions onto a group of innocent creatures. Nor resist having the ability to teleport, even in the air! All while being just a cute little newman (elf)? Ohh the madness! I also find starting missions by jumping into a pool of data quite unique in itself.
Grrr, these all look so awesome, I don't know which one to pick! (First anyway heheh...) Oh, btw, boss battles Please remember people, this will be FREE TO PLAY, so... NO EXCUSES!

More news from the PSo2 world!
Yey news!!
So pre-open beta is coming this weekend. If you'd like to try it out, go here to find out how. Open beta should be next week, and the game should be released sometime in July.
Oh the info, right! Well aside from the pre-OB here are some snaps of the weapons in the game. (In case you like shiny weapons and stuff.)
As for actual gameplay, nothing new really, but I do have more info game wise if you're interested. Things like the free to pay and such. For more info go here. It's a very informal blog that keeps up to date with everything PSo2 related.
I guess some "bad" news is how the "free-to-play" will work. STOP thinking this will be pay to win, because sorry to break it to you, you can't "win" MMOs. Just can't so stop. And don't worry, there is still no "Pay for easy levels and awesome gear". There is exp boost, but BAH, let me just list what there is so you can stop arguing with me lol! (These prices are guesstimated and are not official yet.) [li]Scape Doll (any in-game useable item) - 150AC = $1.90 A scape doll is something that can revive you if you die mid mission. There is even a prompt to buy one if you happen to die without one in a mission. Let's just say, reviving is expensive in this game.
[/li][li] Character Slot - 500AC = $6.30These are permanent, therefor not a bad buy. If you really want to make a new character, you can always make a new account if you do not wish to pay. [/li][li] Character Remodel Ticket - 500AC = $6.30This is only if you wish to remodel your entire character. Kinda lame to me, but most MMOs do this. This does not mean changing clothes. That is free, but the clothes are not. [/li][li] Premium Set - (30/60/90days) 1300AC/2500AC/3600AC = $16.39/$31.51/$45.38I'll list more about this laterer. [/li][li] Mag Reset Device - 500AC = $6.30Mags are little devices that help you battle. They add to your states and can even help you fight. What you feed them will determine how they help you out. If you feed it wrong, you'll have to get one of these to reset it. There's a way to get a new one for free, but it's uncertain at this point. [/li][li] EXP Boost - (30mins x3/90mins) 500AC = $6.30YEAH IT'S AN EXP BOOST, GET OVER YOURSELF. Unless you are oozing money, I'm not sure how hyped you'd be to pay $4.00 an hour for extra exp. Not in the cards for me. [/li][li] Arks Scratch Ticket (Gatcha/Lottery) - 200AC = $2.50Asians are obsessed with gambling. This type of thing is in most Asian MMOs now-a-days. It will randomly give you something from a list of items. [/li][li] Arks Scratch Gold Ticket (just clothes) - 500AC = $6.30This special lottery ticket will only get you a random new set of clothing you can change to. [/li][li] Ship Change - ?ACThe price isn't out yet, but a ship is like a server, and your character(s) will be stuck there unless you buy this.[/li][/ul] The way this will work will be free accounts and premium accounts. (Sound familiar?) With a free account you will have one (yes only ONE) character slot and you are able to play any mission, level to cap and travel anywhere. With a premium set (timed account) you will get: - A room
So you and friends can come and hang out. You can buy furniture and interactive items to fill it up and look nice and coozy. Rooms do come with a look-out blacony, kitchen and bathroom. (Jk about the kitchen and bathroom part.)
- A shop
So you can actually gain profit on the things you pick up and do not wish to have. This is a tad iffy in my eyes because I think in-game economy is very important to an MMO and having that be only for selected people is kinda a d**k move. I am unsure if an auction house type deal exists yet.
- Premium Storage Box
Yeah. That's right. You have to pay to be able to store things aside from your inventory. Kinda BS huh? I totally agree. If you're going to have to pick up things like weapons, armor, useable items, ALONG WITH, quest items, items used later, storage is damn important!! Charging people for this is NOT COOL Sega, NOT COOL.
- Item Trader
1...2...aaaaaand face palm. Ok, done? Yeah, this is just...WTEFFFF?? You have to pay to trade. Now we all see Sega's evil side. Giving us a totally awesome game, but starving us essentials to play it unless we pay is just... what Sega would do. >_<;
- Premium Block
Unsure wthell this is...
- FUN points boost.
Yeah... wooo?
So we all see what they mean by "Free to play" now right? It's more or less free to demo, but pay to get the full experience. When you put it THAT way, it's a bit more forgiving for the way things are set up, but I guess free to play would attract more people and easier to say. But yes, PSo2 will be a glorified demo until you pay for all the features. Just as some side notes, you can pre-buy AC and then purchase items from an in-game store with it. (So like any other free game you've played.) PLEASE REMEMBER, this is for Japan ONLY at the moment. There has yet to be any insight as of any EN or global take on the game yet. It's a bit unsettling for us non-Asian fans for we do wish to have a EN community. (Trust me, there are plenty translators for the JP version.) This is because Sega of America is literary run by angry walruses. If you ever hear me say, "I HATE SEGA, THEY SHOULD DIE" that is who I am referring to. Not Sega in Japan. I'd bow down to them and kiss their feet if I could. SoA needs to be burned, cursed and crucified for how much they have raped us American fans of Sega over the years. So we are all at the mercy of the raging walruses and can only pray that they are slain by hungry Alaskans....(Where is Sarah Palin when you need her?) As for my take on it, I can see what Sega wants, and in all honesty I am fine with it. As a hard-core fan, I'll pay whatever I need to, to experience the game 100% BUT it's hard for me to do so when the server and community are not designed for me. I will defiantly play the Japanese version hard-core when it comes out, but I will be hesitant to give up any of my green until there is a sure yay-or-ney to an english version/server. Btw, advertising.

..thats a tiny cake! With these being my top requirements, looks like the premium set will likely be for me. Although with my newb-ness, it could possibly be more than I need to start out with. I await to see what you'll be mentioning for this package. But I am really surprised it didn't come with extra char slots to boot...
But here's the kicker... $1.89 for consumption items. This is like HP/MP potions? Or is it like Haggar-Tire-Special-Ham-Hock powerups, temp stat boosts, and elixirs?

But here's the kicker... $1.89 for consumption items. This is like HP/MP potions? Or is it like Haggar-Tire-Special-Ham-Hock powerups, temp stat boosts, and elixirs?
It'll be for special consumption items like the Scape Doll I mentioned. So the type of things they will sell are just for power up or more convenience based. Things like potions (mates) or simple buffing items will be in-game related only. Sorry I didn't clarify that. *If you die mid-mission and can not revive, you simply get ported back to the lobby and have to start over again. You do not lose anything from dying aside from your time.
The Open Beta has been released for this Thursday at 2AM (for us 'Mericans). Your character data will be saved onto the actual release, so I'm trying my darnest to stay calm over these next few days. ;D! At start I will have to wave through the sea of moon speak, but there are people who are dedicated to making an English translation patch for us 'Mericans.
In this light, I (may) have picked my final characters as well. (I'll be hopping on two accounts to have them both since one character per account.) I've revamped my last few chars a tad and finally decided what classes to play. (Unsure of names atm~) PSo2 Seority:
For my edits, I made her a little taller to look more like an adult, rather than a child who has huge knockers lol... She's going to be a ranger and shoot all the dudes.
PSU Seority:
I did't change her look much, but I can't get enough of her~ Just so cute and adorable! ;D She's going to be a lil neko girl who wields giant swords (like how I started her in PSU).
I know that since I have played PSU for eons, of course it's only natural for me to only play/build characters who are teh best of teh best, but PSo2 is just so new, so fresh. Who's to know what is teh best now or anytime soon? Therefor, I shouldn't fret about not building a "god-tier" character (for now) and just focus on enjoying the game, like I did in 06 with PSU. It's how you can fall inlove with a game am-i-rite?

Gaaaaah! And I just got back into the old PSO!!!! @@__@@
But perhaps its for the best, the first game was really getting plagued with hacking problems, and the changes to the rare item mechanics were really messing with the politics of the entire system...
Also... something thats usually a theme for me with the first PSO, is that I would play it and get EXTREMELY into it for a short while, then have a rapid burnout and just stop playing.
So, Im actually really looking forward to this! As long as they can keep the feel of the game true to the original, I will be very, very happy. ^_^
Is it just you two (Crono and Seority) online right now, or is anybody else in the house playing this?

Well... Open Beta is long is done with, while the Official is out! (Since the 4th... but WHATEVA! XD)
As you all probably know, due to my absence, the game is SUUUPER addicting! (To me at least lol.)
So far on my adventures here, I have made new friends, ran into old ones, and even some very friendly Japanese folk. As of now, on the Japanese server, the community is really good. Very helpful and communicative. Yeah, there are some lobby rats that do nothing but spam pictures, but those people are everywhere in the world.
I have mastered most menus, but now my task is to read katakana/hiragana so that I can understand Client Orders / Quests and the story finally... It is a little rough having to live off a blog page, but I've been doing fine so far. Game itself is awesome, of course, and it's just the kind of game I love. Sci-fi fantasy, loaded with color and variety along with multiple ways to kill things. ^^ Here are some SS of lobbies and mission areas:
"]
Even though you can still enjoy yourself while playing solo, things get really interesting and a lot more fun when you join up with large groups of people. You can have a party group up to four, and then join a multi-party area with up to 12 people. You starting getting multiple mid-mission codes/quests such as, kill these certain monsters and collect pieces of matter around the map. Bosses, yes end mission bosses, may even spawn in the middle of your mission area, and they are suuuuuuuuper fun to do! You can try to be tactical and take out the monster's legs to cripple them, you can freeze their limbs to make them immobile, or you can just go straight for thier weak areas to take him down. You can also sync your MAG BURST with other players to buff up your BURSTs damage/buff/heals, whichever your MAG does. So just imagine a 12 man group, taking down this giant bug creature, using signs and signals, using team work to bring the massive giant down is something I have really missed in MMOs as of late.
I use this blog site to help understand what is what in the game: bumped.org/psublog/pso2-guide-list/ . It is hosted and maintained by my friend Ricardo. It's the best one out there so far, but since there are so many things that are getting updated constantly, he doesn't have it all, yet. You can also try here: www.pso-world.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=45 . Fair warning though with pso-world... My original account has been banned for... 4 some years now (long story short: people and their grudges >.< and I have made 10+ new accounts on there which continually get banned. To put it short and sweet, just go there for info, to read. Actually interacting with those people will only give you a headache and waste your time heheh...
Back to PSO2, the community is pretty good, Phantasy Star wise, and I've run across some really nice American and Japanese players. Some of the Japanese players knew English, so I was using google translate to talk to them in Japanese, while they responded with English. It was really fun giving each other tips and correcting one another's grammar or spelling. We all friend listed each after 4 good hours of playing aside one another. *read chat log, bottom right hand corner*
Begining and Present snapshots of my character:
I do still stick to my statement that PSO2 is still "Free to Demo" but looking at it, from a casual players side, it's actually perfectly funtional. The only two things that "hinder" your experience is being able to sell things on the market (you can still buy things w/o having to pay) and having a room. Both of which really arn't needed if you don't plan on spending more then 20 hours max on the game weekly. Weapons and armor drop PLENTY so you don't have to live off the market to get better gear, and it's really easy to upgrade gear on your own. PSO2 is seriously worth a shot whenever you get the chance to play it. It's a full MMORPG experience FO FREE, and we can all log on and play whenever. There will be battle/challenge modes coming up where it's all about the team work, which is what I'm sure we'll all enjoy. ^^ (Don't forget the crazy character creator!)
Don't worry, I've saved the best for last.
Sega of America released info that there will be an English/Global server for PSO2 released in the early months of 2013. Yes I know it's half a year away, but any news is GOOD news from the craptastic Sega of America team. So, yay being able to know the story line and understand what things are what w/o staring at a wiki! ^^ Gonna be awesome! If you're a big story guy, then don't worry. There are already fan clubs and sites dedicated to characters in PSO2. This one in particular.
She's apparently a crazy Caseal (Female Robot) who enjoys shooting everything to the extreme. Her voice is cute, but purposefully annoying. If you invite her to your party, she sings a lil song that states "Shoot, shoot em all! Kill, kill them all!" This along with sinister giggling makes her more then enough too creepy for me thanks lol...
Btw, totally going to be fighting a Battleship here soon. That's right. You and three others take on a cruiser. ;D
ANYWAY, so yes, the fun is coming to us non Asian folk, and I hope you all are at least interested enough to try! If you are wanting to get into the Japanese servers (English patch is still being worked on) just give me a holler and I'd be happy to help you get set up! ( \^^)/!

As an update for us, are you having any GameGuard issues currently? I've considered installing the game + English patch, but this makes me hold off.
