........I dunno if I posted this already or not, too lazy/tired to check, memory sucks, ya know. translationparty.comThis site is crazy fun. It does what I often do in Google or Babelfish Translator.... translates English into Japanese, then back into English, multiple times, making for some messed up Engrish. XD I've already been doing such for the lulz on my own, but this site simplifies the process. Here's a fun example! Original: I looked into his eyes and said, "Don't give up. We'll make it through this. We just have to believe in the future." Some of the results: If he is the future of our people, I have not seen this idea a lot of people quit looking for it, "said," he said. Our people are our future if he is, I have this idea that many people "do not look for an exit," he said. If we are people who came from the future, he said, "I have a lot of people," he said he did not see the end. ......Deep stuff. XD (I've known about this for a while, but shadowphoenix's latest LJ post re-reminded me of the joys of online translators, and the one he linked to allows a lot of text, so that's fun stuff too, especially for song lyrics like he did! XD )

Ugh... those rap lyrics are so awful. Good thing for the translations, all is so much clearer! --- I've slept for 13-16 hours before and I was always sooo groggy afterwards... almost like I needed to sleep again (or rather just took all kinds of energy to "wake" up). --- Every year "Independent" or experimental CG movies are released and likewise are usually hard to follow what the original author intended for the visuals/meaning. However, I still give people credit for being imaginative, creative, and doing what they enjoy~ Fragile Machine www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzemJYcm-ms

and on the other end of the spectrum, we have completely abstracted forms created expressly to complement (or more) the audio. With this one, i feel like the music is coming from the video, instead of the video being put to music. vimeo.com/groups/toons/videos/8294628

oh man, some of this stuff is pretty neat, but others i just die a little inside. "I will turn your color photos into black and white for $5"....that's seriously 2 seconds in any graphics program other than MSpaint.

Heh, well, it might be good for an oldish-type person with no scanner, and maybe includes the cost of photo-print paper and then mailing them to ya. But that site's a great idea. It makes me happy cuz anyone can earn a little money and just about anyone can afford things on there. Ya might find a specific thing you've always wanted but never thought you'd find. It's like a little pocket of magic. :3

China Tech Factories: Cheap electronics at only the cost of humanity. LinkThe world's desire for cheap, plentiful electronics comes at a great cost to others. Things like this are not new in this world (especially the food industry), but it's still a good idea to keep an eye on such matters for knowledge.

I've known for a long time that there are lots of cruel companies in China. But the problem is, without these cruel jobs, most folks there would have no jobs at all.
That's the dilemma: Either the companies are supporting cruelty by having these groups make their products, or they're not allowing people any income at all.
It's terrible, and it's why I have a hard time thinking too hard about China. I feel so sorry for the citizens. And I feel disgusted and angry with the political and social system there. The people are treated terribly in so many ways. Deprived of freedom of information (Google recently left the mainland due to being sick of the censorship... and kids have gotten in trouble for downloading EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL that their schools wouldn't teach them and that they wanted to learn for themselves), and deprived of basic human rights.
But, with over 6 billion people crammed in, it's hard for them all to be governed properly without things being strict. If things were lenient, then it'd cost more than anyone could afford to take care of everyone, and if the government were to be overthrown by unified and healthy people, chaos would ensue on an unimaginable scale.
And I hate that, because this system is not right at all, and yet it's hard to imagine a better system that could actually work AND keep the people in better shape. It's so sad. It makes me angry.
The only solution I can see is that China should be allowed to break up into smaller self-governed countries, each with their own policies, and people being free to choose which area to live in. It's just too big for its own good.
Things might be on their way to a shake-up. Between Obama being ballsy enough to talk to the Dalai Lama, more companies supporting American-made products, and all the food and toy safety fiascos... as well as Google moving out... the people of China are getting restless.
Change might be on the horizon... but it could very well be painful and ugly unless somehow things fall into place. I'll always hope for the best...
(It's like Efrafa in "Watership Down"... General Woundwort keeping the warren secure and the population thriving, but at what cost?)
