More food talk here. If the sandwich buffet returns I hope we have the fridge for sure for the meat 'n stuff. A cooler is fine, too.....buuuuut previous experience with the lunch meat + cooler option has resulted in water from melted ice getting in the lil meat bags and cheese bags (o-o-o-takon-n-n-n). Same happened with the mustard and jelly. Lids and zip-loc type seals did not prevent the water from getting in. Placing these things on top of standing bottled beverages also did not prevent swimming cheese fun (lots of hands in 'n' out equals things shifting about, obviously)

Yeah, we'll add the fridge to one of the rooms. If it happens to be $12 per night, I will pay the extra $12 so you guys don't have to worry about it. With fewer ppl coming, costs have unfortunately gone up. I wasn't planning for it to be so high... but 2 rooms are soooo much better than 1 for convention times.
Hotel ($100 deposit not required with Credit Card): $---484.72 [*includes tax stated in reservation emails] Refrigerator x 1: $----12.00 Parking for 3 cars ($14 x 3 Cars x 2 Days): $----84.00 ================= $---580.72 ----divided by 8 $----72.59 each
Oh... and Waffles discussed/confirmed he will be driving instead. Looks like I'll be riding with SK and ZC this time. I already asked SK last week if it would be fine.

THIS IS MY ONE MAJOR SUPER IMPORTANT POST FOR THIS THREAD! READING = NECESSARY
Well gentlemen, we are under two weeks away. We should finalize rides, sleeping arragements, etc, and get our shit together.
NOTE: INFORMATION IS UP TO DATE AS OF 3/24/09
CON GOING POTATO PEOPLE Here is my current confirmed for brawl list. --Crono --Erin (she really needs a nickname, I dub her Waffle Queen) --Sephy --Sithius --Sqiky --Waffles --Wonder Saiyan --Zacloud
GAS GUZZLING ELECTRIC CAR HATERS Our three drivers are as follows --Sithius --Sqiky --Waffles
PLANT YOUR ASS HERE FOR 3 HOURS Ride assignments are currently as follows TEAM LOLLERSKATES --Sqiky --Zacloud --Crono
TEAM OFMGWTF --Sithius --Wonder Saiyan --Sephy*
TEAM SYRUP PACKET --Waffles --Erin
(*Note: I just checked the most up to date Crono-updated post and it appears he's riding with Sqiky and Zacloud . I might just ride with Sithius and WS since said driver is across the road. Plus this way Waffles & Erin dont have to shuffle around their car's packing in order to accomodate a third person.)
SLEEP IS FOR PUSSIES DRINK POWERTHIRST! Sleeping Arrangements, since it will factor in packing Sleeping arrangements should be discussed for this will determine if anyone needs to bring sleeping bags and pillows! We've already established that our three drivers get dibs on beds and I think we've conceded that Zacloud gets another spot to sleep as well. --Sqiky --Sithius --Waffles --Zacloud --(i called dibs on a sleeping space as well >_> )
Depending on whether we have two people sleeping on the floor or just one (if we want to squeeze three people onto one bed) I'd probably recommend that the people sleeping on the floor do so in the double bed room, since that is technically the bigger room and thus should yield more floor space (and I'm basing the single bedroom off of what we experienced a few years back at ACen). The single bedroom would then be for two people, or three depending. (This may be subject to change once we get to the rooms).
ITS DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE THIS! Driving directions for our convoy Crono, I'm assuming it's up to you to establish directions since you have done it each year we've done this. From my basic research I've done into this before, the easiest route is by taking I-94 all the way up to St. Paul. From there its just an exit, left turn, and a 1.2 mile drive down a straight line followed by a right turn into the hotel parking lot. Erin has discussed a possibly faster alternative route... however since; this is the first year at the new location, we're traveling in a convoy, and 2/3 drivers havent driven to said location in the past, I'd strongly recommend taking the I-94 route directly. It's the easiest route and allows for probably the most 65+ MPH driving.
ANYTHING THAT WOULD CHANGE/EFFECT THIS?! RESPOND OTHERWISE IT'S GOING TO BE ASSUMED SAID ARRANGEMENTS ARE ALRIGHT!

also can i reserve a bed space for erin? i'd feel bad if i left her on the floor.

Awww... You'll be missed, redwolf Hopefully we can still poke each other before or after the con. I have an announcement concerning the AMVs. As you all know, we pretty much MUST be at the AMV Contest, as two DZX vids will be premiering there, and we gotta experience the cheering. Well, there are other AMV events there too, including the Indies. JudgeHolden from animemusicvideos.org has PMed me and asked if they could include "Lost Kitten" and "Friggin' Horse" in their lineup! So I said NO!!! ...Just kidding! I was thrilled and honored. So my dancy vid will get to premiere at this fine convention after all, even despite me not entering it into the contest (due to lack of a fitting category). So yay! While this showing is NOT mandatory like the AMV contest (lol, using mandatory loosely but still), just letting y'all know it's there if you want it. :3

Considering Matsu Ya is in Point... and we are not traveling that way for Detour. Not sure how you'd plan to fit it in there. Erin is most likely sharing the King bed with the other girls I think.
Speaking of AMVs, apparently the WTF contest will clash with the Rock Band Tourny time (Friday @ 9). We'll have to decide who wants to go where...

so we need to figure out departure times. i know we usually leave early to get there by noon, but we have to deposit erin's paycheck that she gets that friday, and we're unable to pick it up untill 8 am. then it gets deposited and we head for rapids, hopefully getting there between 11 and noon.
any thoughts?

I kind of like the whole 'leave at 8/9 thing and get there by noon' tradition.

Ok all, it's almost time. About food, looks like Sqiky and I can't bring as much of a buffet as we want. So what we should all do is go to Mooly Mart right before the trip and pick up everything we need, splitting it up between everyone, or everyone mostly getting their own stuff or something. I'm not in possession of foodstamps anymore so I can't splurge like I used to. Having listed off good options before, it's up to everyone to get what you wanna eat, though I'll still try and bring some extra in case anyone forgets or can't.
And... About when we get there. I know the con itself starts early afternoon, but what time does the hotel let us into our rooms? We don't want another debacle like with Daisho, involving waiting in the lobby for infinite time with the luggage, or having to re-retrieve vehicles/luggage n stuff. So depending on when check-in is allowed, we don't wanna get there TOO early anymore than too late.

Im curious as to what anybody else is bringing for food this time around. The sandwich thing is gonna be crazy expensive unless everyone wants to chip in for stuff for sandwiches, but then everyone might as well just bring their own sandwiches already made :/ I like wheat bread anyway and most people don't. Bringing stuff for PBJ's would be cheaper though; peanut butter would not spoil hardly as easily as lunchmeat would.
Otherwise another option I have would be to bring granola bars. We can get these huge 12 packs. Let me know what else is being brought to the "table"!

So depending on when check-in is allowed, we don't wanna get there TOO early anymore than too late. Check In at the hotel isnt until 3pm, so basically no matter what time we get there it will require us waiting. The reason we always tend to leave super early for Detour is to avoid the long waits in line for registration, and given the trend the last few years the Pre-Reg line tends to get longer and longer meaning the later it takes us to get there the more waiting he have to do. Tis why I like getting there early, it means we can space out our waiting while doing other fun things in between. Also, in regards to food... I might just bring a small cooler with soda and stuff for myself, so I wont need to make as many food stops hopefully.
