www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=60255All that, thanks to some stupid, STUPID noob!!! JEEZ that's the kind of stupidity that makes me wanna bite my fist and pull out my hair and bang my head on a wall a few times, then wish the ensuing pain upon the stoopid noob! >_< And what's with the record companies being so darn picky anyway? They don't like free positive publicity I guess. They don't like people discovering new artists and finding new albums to buy I guess. BAH!!! I'm just glad Phade didn't get into big fat trouble... ...And I hope this isn't really the end of the .org as we know it...

To quote Phade: "I asked what brought all of this to their attention, thus requiring them to take action. The attorney replied that someone, most likely a fan, contacted them (either the record label or through the band’s web site) asking if the videos hosted here at the Org were created by the band. Since they were not, they had no choice but to issue a cease and desist request. "
...
(sighs and hits head)

stupid... stupid... idiot...

Something tells me that this isn't going to be "highly regulated", Phade was polite, and immediate in his response. My guess is that even if people started making those videos again, the record companies wouldn't bother to check.

i agree with LCF kinda, but I think its going to be a case of either one extreme or another.
considering how sudden and politey this whole AMV.org thing went this could be a low maintenance thing. OR since the record industries have found a giant hub of new shit to complain about (since their pockets arent full enough), they could try to crack down on the whole AMV world all together.

They could try, Sephy.
But you can't stop the signal!

I agree with Sephy and LCF on this one, it's either going to be a slap on the wrist and forgotten or it'll be taken to an extreme. I'm hoping it'll be the first one.
Now, what I'm about to say is my opinion, I'm not sure how you all feel about it but I'm pretty much not going to bring it up again since this is just a feeling of mine and I don't want to draw massive amounts of flak my way. Evenescence AMVs are going to be removed from AMV.org. For that I thank the Lord because the AMV community has ruined that band for me, just like they did Linkin Park with blatent overuse in mediocre videos. Again, just my opinion, I will not say it again as to avoid offending someone.
But at least they didn't want to shut down the site or anything. Hopefully the other bands/record companies don't freak out and do the same thing.

The radio ruined Evanescence and Linkin Park for me. Actually, they ruin *everything* they play. Which is why I actively look for bands that aren't on the radio. I think people will have learned their lesson, after this one, I doubt people are going to contact other publishers. If the .org gets shut down, at least we'll still have dzxproductions.com, and Anime Cons. Hopefully it won't come to that though.

ah, neither do I, but sometimes I get sick of my CDs, and that way, when I turn on the radio, the music is new and I'm not sick of the songs. It also means that I'm not sick to death when I have to. I also don't feel the need to throttle people when they are humming in class.

Thankfully I have enough of a variety of CDs that I rarely get sick enough of them to have to listen to the radio for more than a couple of days (during which time I find out what the songs my friends have been singing are without getting sick of them, which might make me want to go out and get another CD).
It's a cycle.
What I find strange about this is that they nixed two bands that are still active and one...that broke up a little while ago. I guess that sort of makes sense, because they wanted to protect their music since nothing else will be produced, but...it's still weird to me.
I'm weary about this myself...the music industry has been doing some stupid things lately. If they're not careful, a backlash is quite likely. There isn't much that a handful of fans can do, but if you piss enough of them off, it'll be mayhem.
Still, it seems to me that this will just be a small slap on the wrist, thanks to Phade.

I dont listen to the radio cuz I want to hear variety perhaps.
The stations around here really tend to play the same stuff over and over again.
So what do I do? Rip my CDs onto my PC, and burn CDs with random songs on them for my listening, and then I listen to those songs until I get sick of them. Then I go and burn a new mix and listen to that until I'm finished.
And given my tolerance for certain types of songs, I can listen to them over and over again without truly getting sick of them or until I manage to pick up every single beat in the song hence i've heard it too much ^_^.
My method has at least allowed me to spread out my music collection long enough to were I'm still discovering songs that Im suprised I like (example: The Linkin Park reanimation CD)
