I just thought it was funny that they named a video "Fade to Black", and it had absolutely nothing to do with metallica. I guess I sort of lost my point somewhere when I typed that sentence.

Its hard for me to find videos anymore. The normal source I get most of my AMVs from is AnimeMusicVideos.org.
BUT... everything on there is so watered down and crappy now that its so hard to find good or great videos.
Seriously, you could download the first 15 videos listed on the "New Downloads" page and make an "AMV Hell" video out of it (one of the most overrated videos ever)

Sweet, hope I can check that out someday; same creator of "Beautiful Lie" and "Tsumibito no Kashou" (Both HIGHLY recommended). It's gotta be good.

Wow is right prodigi, really really great. Possibly the greatest AMV I've ever seen.

A new video which will be released in the next week or so which will be one to look out for is:
"The Unearthed Project"
Featuring a mix of all the songs on E.S. Posthumus's album "Unearthed". I myself did Track 3 which was a mix of Elba and Tikal to the Animatrix.
I'll post the link when the vids been completely finished.

...i didnt like Jihaku at all...
--critique time--
it falls right into what i think is becomming the problem amongst some video's within the AMV community. That being using special effects and stuff, but lacking any sort of actual substance within the video.
And outside of placing the actual music video in the video, there wasnt much else that was technically demanding in the video, it was a series of rather meaningless scene changes in a song with an overly repetitive series of lyrics. And the video holds no sense of substance or feel to it, mainly due to it using way too many sources of anime within it.
I give Jihaku a 4 out of 10

I agree with you in terms of it being... Cluttered would be a good way to put it I guess. But I also think that the AMV does a really good job of choosing scenes that are emotionally poignant. Sometimes they are happy, sometimes they are sad, but the author puts them together with the music in such a way that I feel like I can identify with the characters, even if I don't know who they are.
All in all, I liked this video because it felt like it captured the "essence" persay, of emotion. My favorite scenes in the AMV are the little girl in the swing looking at the bird, and the end where it pans to the sky.
I thought the author showed all the different anime to show all the kinds of people who live in this world, and how they can be so different but have such fundamentally similar emotions and feelings. It gave the feeling of being utterly alone, and a part of something greater, at the exact same time. To tell the truth, I didn't like it the first time through, although I enjoyed the added real music video to it, thought it was creative. But the more I watch it, and try to disect the AMV, the more I saw that the scenes chosen weren't as arbitrarily chosen as I thought.
But maybe I'm reading too much into the video. Maybe I gave more credit than where it was due. But any video that gets that kind of emotional response from me, even if it IS unintentional, gets a good score.

The "Unearthed" ProjectI can't make any comments on the final version as i'm only downloading it now and i've only viewed the beta. The filesize is a little big for the video length, but apart from that its a pretty darn good video.

Ok, the final cut is pretty good. I still have a few tiffs with it (such as certain audio blips which it is too late to fix as they were in the mix already *rolls eyes), but apart from that it's a pretty good project. Kisanzi and *inverse* stole the show in my opinion. There were 2 tracks i have major problems with. Track 2, an Inuyasha video which in my opinion could have been done quite a bit better, and Track 5, a Figure 17 tracks which in my opinion looks like it was just thrown on top of the audio with no effort at all. But that's not to say i did an absolutely fantastic job (although in my defense they had 3-4 months of working time, and i had my track dropped on me 8 days before the deadline *rolls eyes again*) [/end rant]
But all in all i think it's a pretty good tribute to E.S. Posthumus. Not sure if it's worth the download size though, although the quality is good, i don't think ~300 odd megs is right for a 15 minute video.

Soul ShadowI'm speechless. The editing throughout this is fantastic, it utilises both the simplicity of overlays and cross fades with amazing manipulation of footage to put across the story. I love the song and anime combination and it creates a spectacular atmosphere and mood. I suggest this to anyone searching for a good drama video.

RevengeFirst off, AZ YOU MUST SEE THIS VIDEO!!!! I know for a fact you will like it as you are a Sin City fan, and this video has a very Sin City feel to it. Not only that but it's made by Evilspider, the guy who did the Akross "Silence" video, which i also know you have seen and loved. This video is spectacular, like the music video version of Sin City. Download it now.

Last night, I showed AZ and Waffles that Soul Shadow AMV. I nearly forgot that I had it and really enjoyed watching it again. Simply put, AZ remained a little stunned at its satisfying visuals.
