*Roughly a month passed since Bax and Zack were confronted by Sephiroth X in the Desert of the Dead. The Senate had manipulated X's so X could lead them to the Valley of the Promised. Bax and Zack were amazed at how The Senate suddenly amplified Sephiroth X's power... they never saw that kind of brute strength and speed from Sephiroth X, or any other human for that matter. And Sephiroth X then confronted Zack about his memories leading back to where he encountered Senate troops near what assumeably was the Valley of the Promised, and Zack couldn't remember. So Sephiroth X departed into the Desert of the Dead looking for a clue that he remembered the day Bax arrived on Earth.*
*In the military city of Zion. The Senator sat at a horseshoe like table. But The Senator's seat was more throne like, and raised approximately 10 feet above the other chairs at the table, signifying his importance. Two lights illuminated the room, one beamed down direcly at the center of the horseshoe like table, and the second directly down on the Senator's throne. Other uniformed people entered the room and sat at designated seats, the uniforms werent that of a typical soldier except for one person. These were all heads of the Senate sub-sections... the hierarchy of command. After everybody got comfortable The Senator finally spoke.*
The Senator - So... it's nice to finally see all of you again. It's been a while since we had our last Senate committe wasn't it? I know with Zion's technology it is technically pointless to gather like this, I simply enjoy the feeling of all the important people that make The Senate run within the same room. BUT... don't think I haven't been checking up on your respective divisions.
*The Senator looked at the one division-leader in the soldier-like uniform.*
The Senator - General Seifer...
General Seifer - Yes, my lord.
The Senator - Your security division of the military has been... well... lack-lusterous as of recently. With the escape of inmates Claude and Zack, the feline-specimen, Pyramid Head's escape, and the attack from this 'Dragoon' creature... you've come under the eye of everybody else in this room.
General Seifer - Forgive me, my lord, the soldier's we have been recruiting lately aren't the best of the best like we used to have.
The Senator - *With a smirk* I believe you General...
*Suddenly the sound of a gunshot boomed and echoed in the room. Everybody, minus the Senator, jumped and looked as General Seifer was shot in the back by a security guard at the door. The guard who shot General Seifer grabbed the back of the chair he was sitting in and wheeled the corpse out of the room.*
The Senator - Apprentace Leon, head of the military supernatural department...
*A man in a dark red kind of overcoat stood up in the seat next to where General Seifer sat.*
Apprentace Leon - Yes, my master.
The Senator - Congratulations... you've been promoted. Until we find a more... 'perminant' replacement for General Seifer you must watch over Supernatural and Security. I hope I haven't overburdened you my apprentace.
Apprentace Leon - No, my master. It will not be an issue.
*The Senator smiled*
The Senator - As I figured. Since you're already standing, do you have an update on The X Project at the moment?
Apprentace Leon - You refur to the rogue who searches for the Valley of the Promised... Sephiroth X?
The Senator - Yes, him.
Apprentace Leon - I'm sorry to say, but since you released him to the Phoenyian and the boy we have not heard contact from him. It's been over a month, it is possible to assume that either he died fighting the alien and the boy or possibly couldn't survive the Desert of the Dead.
The Senator - I'm disapointed our newest toy hasn't spoken yet. Granted we did give him more freedom then our past subjects... Your assumptions to his fate are logical, but I would rule both out for the time being. Our tapping into his potential should have given him enough to deal with the alien and the boy, and he seemed to survive the Desert of the Dead without us. Im confident his survival skills are well in tact. Perhaps he's just gathering more information to present at once, I wouldnt be suprised if he walked in with a map directly to the Valley.
Apprentace Leon - I understand, my master.
The Senator - Is there nothing else to speak off from any of you? Then the meeting is dismissed.
*The division-leaders all stand up and exit the room. The Apprentace named Leon walks towards The Senator's throne as The Senator steps down. The Senator walks out a different exit, and Leon the Apprentace follows closely on The Senator's left side.*
Apprentace Leon - Tell me, my master... there's something I've always wondered but never felt it the appropriate time to ask.
The Senator - Leon, you are my Apprentace, the man who is going to follow in my footsteps someday. You are better then those other men we were just with, you can be open with your thoughts in my presence.
Apprentace Leon - Well, I thought of it once The Senate started looking for The Valley of the Promised... You are by legend the man who killed the last Warrior of Prosperity. And by Senate records you are the last one before me to ever be ranked Apprentace... so the legend fits chronologically and fits within history... but you are therefore over 130 years old, master. And you look like you're only in your late 40's or 50's... how can this be?
*The Senator smiled as they continued to walk down corridors.*
The Senator - I was guessing you would eventually put things together and ask me this. It for a while was hard for me to even explain to myself until some of The Senate's best physicians and researchers helped me figure it out. The day I killed the last Warrior of Prosperity apparently there was some kind of transfer of power between he and I.
Apprentace Leon - But I thought the Element of Prosperity wouldn't enter your body?
The Senator - No it didnt. Apparently what happed was that some fraction of the gifts from the Element of Prosperity actually physically embedded themselves into the Warrior's physical makeup, his DNA. The Element itself never entered me, but those permanent things within him transfered to me. When I killed him, apparently the gift of extended life entered me. But since the Warrior only carried a fraction of the full power, I will not live as long as someone with the Element of Prosperity will live. Our scientists estimate I will live another twenty years at the very most. I can die like any normal human, just like the Warrior of Prosperity, it will just take me a longer time to die of age.
Apprentace Leon - How does this extended life work?
The Senator - Basically, as a cell or group of cells die in my body. The others around me and within my bloodstream regenerate them back to a living state. This trait can even assist me in battles, scrapes, bruises, cuts, and even some bullet holes can be fixed within under a minute. Its just my body will begin to die to a point where my body cant regenerate as fast as they die off. Thats when I will die of age.
Apprentace Leon - Did anything else transfer to you?
The Senator - Yes... one more thing. I recieved a fraction of the Warrior's physical abilities too, like his endurance and strength. Which explains my fighting abilities. This was apparently transfered through blood, the blood never touched me personally... but my katana, Hades. The explanation of how it happened was more magic then science. The power transfered into my katana, and subsequently went into me.
Apprentace Leon - So the sword is the source of your power?
The Senator - Not exactly. The power thats in my sword, and the power thats within me triggered each other's unleashing. Without one, the other wouldnt have worked. The power is mine only, even if my sword and I are separated I will hold the power now.
*The Apprentace and The Senator walked up to a door at the end of a corridor, as The Senator walked to it the door slid open revealing a dark room with a large panoramic window showing all of Zion... apparently The Senator's personal quarters.*
Apprentace Leon - This is all fascinating my master it really is.
The Senator - *Smiling* And maybe before I die some day I will give this gift to you.
*Leon became somewhat stunned*
Apprentace Leon - I thought it couldn't be transfered?
The Senator - My scientists have their ways.
*The Senator stepped into his home and the door slid shut in front of the Apprentace. Leon then turned around and walked back down the corridor.*
