VOCALOID3 R A COMIN!
Many new Vocaloid are heading this way. Ones such as V3 Megapoid, SeeU as well as Luka&Kaito Append and brand spankin new ones. Yay right? Well...
I am excited for the new revamps of older Vocaloids such as Meg and Kaito. Ones that needed it anyway. As for the brand new ones, I'm not to thrilled, except for SeeU. SeeU was made for the sole reason to sing Korean so her voice can conjunct words better then the usual Japanese onry Vocaloids, and her voice is you unique in that way. The others, such as CUL, IA, and Oliver just sound like variations of past vocaloids. Even though they are "technically" designed to sing certain variations of songs. For example, CUL is supposed to be a deeper female and better for rock and metal songs. I'm sorry, but I still think Rin does a perfectly good job at it, with her very high voice, specially since she wasn't even "designed" for said genre.
Some where also designed for Chinese and Spanish. I'm unsure who was the Spanish one, but Chinese isn't very different from Japanese to an American like myself, so it's harder for me to tell the difference.
So anyway, here is a list of the up-coming Voca-whatevers. I'm not really fond of nor looking forward to any of them, seeing as how none really stand out for me, aside from SeeU. Don't let me ruin your curiosity though. Test them out too see if you find one you like.
SeeU
Fan-made Usee (male SeeU) is pretty great as well. He's currently my second favorite under Mikuo. Yes, I don't think highly of any of the real male Vocaloids aside from Gakupo or Akaito, but sadly they are not official either.
Usee
CUL
IA
Aoki Lapis
Apparently Aoki gets teased as not being a Vocaloid and more like a dating-sim character. I can see the resemblance and how her design isn't very Vocaloid-like, but I personally think she looks cute and her voice isn't too bad, even though it sounds very much like Rin.
Oliver
One of the only three new male Vocaloids. Even though he sounds less Japanese then the others, it's still too much like Len and I'm still unimpressed. That, and his look is generic Cloud/Len rip off, aside from the bandage on his face. Cuz bandages are... cool?
If you want the full list go here and look them up yourself, if you really wish lol.
Of course the ones I really want arn't officially out yet, but they are in production so that is better then nothing. You have things like:
Kaito Append
Sounds SOOO much better. As soon as this is released I can finally put Kaito on the "Good" Vocaloid list. I don't blame the guy though, he was one of the first and this is the first fix he's gotten. So yay more guys!
Luka Append
Her voice doesn't sound much different then her original, but it is a bit lighter and softer, so she can blend words a little better now. I do appreciate Luka more now, and I think she can be one of the few Japanese Vocaloids that can actually do English right when done well.
I didn't do a Vocaloid2 post, but they've been out for so long, they are just part of the norm now. So sorry I missed them, but honestly it wasn't really needed.
MOAR MIKU!!
Actual good Miku advertisement!
Miku has agreed to help Google Chrome reach into Japan with sheer amazingness and awesomeness! We here in Amerika know the Chrome is the shit, so this is a great product and something that actually relates to Miku. (Miku+Car=Muffins poop, no offense DX)
Read up more on this here.
Something I could of added earlier, but didn't feel like it, was that Miku is getting another boost with the Vocaloid 3s coming out. Her original voice actor learned some English (Yay! No more Engrish! ^^) and redid her voice bank. This sounds great on the papers, but not so much in reality.
Granted this isn't 100% completed yet, so there is still hope for us Amurakins yet!
The bad about "American Miku". Her outfit. I just can't really explain it, but it is official. This design was apparently a contest and picked out from the owners. Here it is in all its freedom... and glory?
I can't think of an explaination that wouldn't insult the Japanese and us, but here it goes. Just as a note, I do NOT care about the person who submited it. I'm sure the owners wanted some kind of design like this, so this person just blindly followed it. Should this person be brought to justice? Of course! But, there are bigger problems to deal with.
Possible Scenario 1: The Japanese are un-knowledgeable about American culture and only get from what they stereotypically think would be "American".
Well, I'm fairly certain Japanese people arn't blatantly stupid, but they can be arrogant which comes to my next explanation.
Possible Scenario 2: The Japanese knew this would be offensive to us (well the non-gung-ho-yay-freakin-ray-for-fukin-America-flag-wavin-gunz-blazing Yankees) and did it to laugh in our faces.
I'm sure some of them may of wanted this, seeing as how America is the most hated country of the world, but from a business standpoint, doing something offensive is very bad.
My last, most probable answer: They figured that we would appreciate her new "Patriotism" and since it does kinda look like her original look that it wouldn't bug us too much. Well, it does bug me, but like there's anything I can do about it. Just have to suck it up and deal with it. I'm still going to complain though.
Want to see my "American Miku"?
She is Miku. She is my Miku. She is your Miku. She is EVERYONES Miku. Doesn't matter what language you speak or what color your skin is. She sings for us all, and we all love her back for it. Slapping on a culture or racial brand to her is the same thing as slapping it onto me or you. Miku and all the Vocaloids are about throwing away these labels and coming together as one through their music. I can only pray that they reconsider this decision.
Time for something more cheerful. Browsing around my cosplay addictions along with Miku, I stumbled across an amazing video, along with many others like it. I love to dance to Vocaloid songs myself, but even with all my effort could not have done it to this perfection. Watch and love. Just amazes me what Miku can make us do sometimes. ^^
That's all for now folks. I will post more updates as they come. Enjoy more Miku and remember that it's not Miku that brings us together, but it's the love that she stands for, that does.
